Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

As far back as you can remember, you've had an unnatural connection to spirits. Your soul draws those from the dead seemingly closer to you. Eventually, you awaken the inner battle spirit within you and can channel your own soul through weapons. As you sharpen your physical prowess and spirit, higher levels of power manifest through your blades. The energy of your soul is so great that at times even the weave bends to your will. Wielding your own spirit as a weapon is no dauntless task and often you must obtain a will of steel to manifest your powers to their fullest extent. While not a technical aspect of the class, it is encouraged to make your soul bound weapon sentient, allowing the DM to create personality traits for your spirit's weapon that reflect the inner most being of the wielder. In that sense your soul bound weapon is similar to a Hexblade but instead it is simply a piece of your soul.

Flash

At third level, you may use your bonus action to move with lightning speed and for the rest of your turn your movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity. As to your enemies it appears as though you teleported.

Spirit Magic

At third level, your soul is so rich in energy that you gain very limited manipulation of the weave. You learn one cantrip from the Wizard’s spell list and Intelligence is your spellcasting modifier and if a save would be required the DC is equal to 8 + your Intelligence Modifier + your Proficiency Bonus.

Spirit Connection

At third level, you gain butterfly in which you can spread messages with. You gain the message cantrip and may cast it without the need for material components. When you cast message, the target of the spell sees a black butterfly deliver the message to them.

Initial Release

At seventh level, you gain the ability to reach a deeper connection with a blade. At the end of a long rest you may choose a blade in your possession and it becomes your Zanpakuto. As, your Zanpakuto you have the ability to activate a release state.

As a bonus action, your weapon assumes the form of any simple or martial weapon(s) that you now choose. In the new form the weapon retains any modifiers or special abilities as the original weapon. If you assume two weapons, you have to be capable of wielding both at the same time. You are considered proficient with it, and you can't be disarmed of that weapon unless you are incapacitated.

Releasing your weapon gives you access to new powers. Choose a spell of 3rd level or lower from the Wizard spell list. Intelligence is your spellcasting Ability for your Initial Release spell. You can release this spell as a 3rd level spell with your weapon twice per long rest. The spell requires the same type of action to use it as it would normally. You don't need to provide material components for it, and it cannot directly harm you. Spells targeting willing creatures can only target you.

Your weapon strikes count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to non magical attacks and damage, and it deals the same type of damage of the spell it casts, if applicable. For example, you may choose Fireball as you Initial Release spell manifestation. If you choose your weapon to take the appearance of two shortswords, your weapon will change into two shortswords upon release. In a fight, you manifest your Initial Release, and now wield two shortswords dealing each 1d6 fire damage. You can use your action to unleash a fireball, burning nearby foes, and leave you unscathed.

Sharpened Soul

At tenth level, your Initial Release weapon deals an additional 1d4 damage of the same type that it already deals. As well, you may cast your Initial Release spell an additional time per long rest for a total of three times per long rest, this increases again at fifteenth level, for a total of four, and again at eighteenth level, for a total of five times.

Immense Aura

Beginning at fifteenth level, you may use your action to raise your spiritual pressure so creatures can feel its weight. As an action you can force all creatures within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom save against a DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier, on a failure the creature is frightened or in awe of you depending on if they were a foe or an ally for the next minute, on a success they are immune to this feature for the next 24 hours. You can use this feature up to 1 + your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1) amount of times per long rest.

Final Release

Starting at eighteenth level, you are one with your weapen, which grants you superior abilities. You may enter Final Release once per long rest. While in Final Release, you can release your Initial Release spell as if your weapon was in Initial Release form. While in Final Release, you retain all the abilities from your original weapon and Initial Weapon as well as the bonuses from the Sharpened Soul feature.

Your weapon may assume the form of any simple or martial weapon(s) that you now choose, which may be different from its Initial Release form. However, the same rules stated above for the Initial Release regarding weapon transformation apply here. You are considered proficient with it, and you can't be disarmed of that weapon unless you are incapacitated.

Choose a spell of 9th level or lower from the Wizard spell list. The spell must be of the same school as the selected Initial Release spell. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for your Final Release spell. You release this spell as a 9th level spell when you enter Final Release, as an action. You don't need to provide material components for it, and it cannot directly harm you. Spells targeting willing creatures can only target you. Your weapon is casting the spell; it does not require your concentration to maintain. The duration of your Final Release is the same as the duration as it’s spell.

You cannot choose Wish as your Final Release spell. If a spell cast through this ability would cause you or your weapon to lose magical abilities or disable you from casting spells, that spell would not apply to you or your weapon.
