Base Class: Monk
A battlemage gathers the magical energies surrounding him and unleashed a powerful thunderstorm upon the enemy battalion. Just as the first bolt is about to strike his magical thundercloud disperses in the blink of an eye. Exhausted from his cast he surveys the battlefield for the enemy spellcaster who negated his spell only to see a lone man, bald and dressed in nothing but breaches and a waist wrapping striding towards him, grinning.
A lich casts his fear spell knowing full well the power of his magic and the weak party in front of him should start fleeing for their lives only to find them all stand strong in front of him, not showing an ounce of backing down. One of the fighters in the front of the party lunges forth and the lich feels its magic seeping away as he is struck.
Those who practice the Way of Negation have learned to impose their will upon the world, trying to restore it to the true balance of the Void. As ever, the true enemy of consistency in nature is magic. Those who follow the Way of Negation learn to harness the power of their souls to dampen and even negate magical phenomenon around them, restoring order to the universe.
Creature of the Void
Your Void-like nature of your soul begins to shield you from the chaotic nature of magic.
Starting at 3rd level, other creatures spell attacks against you are made with disadvantage and you may add twice your proficiency bonus to saving throws in which you are proficient.
Upon later gaining Diamond Soul, this proficiency bonus applies to all saving throws.
Empty Aura
The strength of your soul has grown and now may impose its calming nature upon the world.
Starting at 6th level, as a reaction you may spend 1 Ki point to dampen the effects of any spell within 30 feet of you. All spell damage that is caused to any creature within 30 feet of you is reduced by half.
Upon reaching 14th level, you have gained further control over this effect. You may chose specific creatures to benefit from this effect while letting other creatures suffer the full effect of the spell.
Send Into the Void
The influence of the Void on your soul has grown deeper, allowing an even greater control over the magical energies around you.
Starting at 11th level, as a reaction, you may spend 0-6 Ki points to replicate the effects of either Counterspell or Dispel Magic. 0 Ki points represents the spell cast at its base level of 3 while each additional Ki point spent raises the casting level of the spell by one up to a maximum of a level 9 spell at 6 Ki points.
You may do this a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier and regain all expended uses upon completing a long rest.
Avatar of Negation
At 17th level, you gain the ability to negate magical manipulation on a creature and by a creature. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 3 Ki points to temporarily turn your body incorporeal and plunge the impacting appendage it into the body of another creature. That creature must make a constitution saving throw, with disadvantage if currently maintaining or being effected by a spell other than the effects of this ability, suffering the following effects on a failed save:
- Dispel all spells currently effecting the creature
- Dispel all spells currently being maintained by the creature
- Suffer backlash from the terminated spells and take 5d10 psychic damage plus 1d10 per spell terminated that was effecting or being maintained by the creature.
- Lose the ability to cast or be effected by spells for 1d4 minutes
At 20th level, you may spend 9 Ki points instead to increase the duration of the final effect to 1d4 hours, or you may spend 15 Ki points to increase the duration of the final effect to 1d4 days.
