Base Class: Blood Hunter (archived)
A gnome before an Allosaurus, a Kobold against an Ogre, a human against a dragon. All must some day come face to face with foes that seem far to large. Blood Hunters are no exception. In fact there is a specific order that has developed special gear designed to scale these creatures and help destroy them. Get ready to get up close and personal with these massive monsters in a way you never dreamed of before.
Know your Prey
Starting when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain advantage on all wisdom and intelligence checks as it relates to giants, dragons, and all enemies huge or larger.
Coil Line
Upon choosing this archetype at 3rd level, you receive the equipment that defines this Order; the Coil Line. This special equipment is designed to help you scale to special heights, including creatures at least 2 sizes larger than yourself. Gives you a 40ft climb/dash speed, which can be used as a bonus action or regular movement. You may use your Coil-line a number of times equal to your blood-hunter level per short rest. You can occupy the same space as a creature 2 sizes or more larger than yourself.
You must take 20 minutes each morning to prepare your coil-line. It will not function if you don't do this.
Joint Strikes
At 7th level, you learn to land your attacks carefully at your target’s joints. If you land an attack on a target you are climbed on, once per turn you may choose to direct your strikes at special joints. You must then move to this area by use of your Coil-Line or by an acrobatic / athletic check:
Shoulder/Elbow: you can cause your target to drop what it is currently holding.
Hip/Knee: Your target's movement is reduced to 0 until the start of your next turn.
Jaw: prevent magical attacks until the start of your next turn.
Eye: Blind your enemy
Temple: immediately break your target’s concentration
Improved Coil-Line
Starting at 11th level, You have learned fine control of the Coil-Line’s piton cable. If the target you plan to climb is unaware of your presence, you can land on them gently enough to not draw further notice. Or you can fire the coil-line with more force and use it as an attack. It will now require an attack roll with proficiency. It does 1 D4 piercing damage. If you have you crimson rite activated on a blade, it will count for your coil-line as well. This, along with the associated movement, still count as a bonus action. You are also now able to carry someone of the same size with you.
Dis-Armor
Beginning at 15th level, Once per enemy that you mount, you may sacrifice half of your damage to lower your target’s AC by 2 until it completes a short rest
Planted Blade
At 18th level, when you have climbed a creature and may make a rite attack, if your attack lands you will jam your blade into your target’s skin and ignore your target’s resistances. You also crit on 18,19, and 20
