Base Class: Monk
This style of combat originated from a Half-Orc who, realising the raw potential of his strength and body, morphed his style into that of a charging bull - simple, but powerful. They utilise straightforward attacks that hold great force behind them, but are simplistic and easily perceived. Whilst a man of a different style may practice several different techniques, the Way of the Oni completely masters the simple straight punch to completely crush their opponent's body.
To them, the body is the catalyst of the spirit. Without a suitably strong frame for the usage of Ki, you will find yourself feeble and useless.
Brutal Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can overpower your enemy through harnessing your ki to strengthen yourself. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows, you can impose one of the following effects on that target:
- It must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be knocked prone.
- It must make a Strength saving throw. If it fails, you can push it up to 15 feet away from you.
- It must make a Charisma saving throw. If it fails, it is considered frightened.
Additionally, any class abilities that utilise Dexterity (Such as Deflect Missiles), you may instead use Strength.
Furthermore, due to the enhancement that Ki provides, you gain proficiency in Athletics. If you are already proficient in Athletics, you gain expertise instead.
Peak Strength
At 6th level, you gain the ability to harness the powers of the great Oni. You gain the following benefits:
Demon Step. You can spend 1 Ki point and take the dash action to move your entire movement in a straight line. Whilst using this, you may avoid up all opportunity attacks and additionally, should you finish your movement near a creature in range, you may use a bonus action to attack the creature.
Strike the Gong. You can spend 1 Ki point before taking the attack action on your turn to enhance the weight of your blow. Following a successful attack, the creature is dazed by the power of the strike and susceptible to attacks. The creature suffers a -2 penalty to his AC for 1 round. However, due to the stress of the attack, you may not take any further attack actions this round (Including Flurry of Blows or any bonus action attacks).
Ascension
Beginning at 11th level, your mastery over the usage of Ki in tandem with your body has ascended to a new height. You gain the following abilities:
Your Demon Step is upgraded. Provided you end your movement near a creature in range, you may spend 1 Ki point to perform Flurry of Blows. Furthermore, the creature takes 1 additional Blunt damage for every 10 feet traveled due to added momentum behind your strikes.
Strongest Amongst Mortals
At 17th level, you have honed your Ki to an ungodly level. By utilising your Ki to enhance your physical capabilities beyond their limits you can reach a new peak of strength above all others. By spending 10 Ki points, you gain the following abilities:
- You have advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
- You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. (Magical and Non-magical)
- You deal an extra 1d10 bludgeoning damage on every attack.
- Your attacks score a critical on a 19 or 20.
