Bard
Base Class: Bard

A college for those who truly wish to be a Devils Advocate. They draw power from the dealing of souls.

Bartering in Souls

When you join the College of the Advocate at 3rd level, you gain the harvest and collect souls in a special pouch, this pouch varies depending on the entity you have agreed to advocate for.

This pouch can carry a number of souls equal to your charisma modifier and souls come in 3 different tiers:

  • Harvested - a soul collected from a dead or dying enemy
  • Coerced - A soul signed away under Duress or against the owners will (I.E. through Suggestion or Dominate Person)
  • Willing - A soul willingly given to the advocate

The now soulless creatures function and behave as normal, but their alignment changes to true neutral and they can no longer be targeted by the Dream or Astral Projection spells.  These souls may then be exchanged for a Devils Boon, and each type of soul will grant a different scale of the boon.

You may choose 2 Devil's Boons and may choose an additional at levels 6, 8 and 14.

Boon of Knowledge

As an action you exchange a soul to temporarily grant you additional proficiency.

  • Harvested - Gain Proficiency in a skill you do not already have proficiency in
  • Coerced - Gain Proficiency in a skill or saving throw you do not already have proficiency in
  • Willing - Gain expertise in any skill or saving throw.

These effects last until your next long rest. You cannot augment more than one skill in this way, using this ability a second time removes the original uses effects.

Boon of Seeing

As a bonus action, exchange a soul for a enhanced vision. Your sight is augmented by the type of soul relinquished:

  • Harvested - Gain Dark Vision to a range of 120 ft. If you already have darkvision, it is extended by 120 ft. This effect lasts until you take a long rest
  • Coerced -  Gain Dark Vision to a range of 120 ft and the ability to see in magical darkness, as well as Advantage on all sight based Perception checks until your next long rest.
  • Willing -  Gain Truesight to a range of 60 ft for 10 minutes. Once this duration is up, Gain Dark Vision to a range of 120 ft and the ability to see in magical darkness, as well as Advantage on all sight based Perception checks until your next long rest.

Boon of Silver Tongue

As an action, relinquish a soul for further social prowess. For 1 hour gain the following benefits based off the type of soul forfeited:

  • Harvested - Gain advantage on all Charisma based checks
  • Coerced -  Double your charisma bonus on all Charisma based checks
  • Willing - Gain advantage and double your charisma bonus on all Charisma based checks

Boon of Strength

  • Coerced - On the first attack each turn, Roll a bardic inspiration die and add it to the damage dealt
  • Willing - Add your Charisma Bonus to every damage roll.

Boon of Vitality

As a bonus action relinquish the soul to your devil, in exchange for a surge of vitality for you or an ally of your choice within 30 ft of you.

  • Harvested Soul: Roll a Bardic Inspiration die and the target gains hit points equivalent to the amount rolled plus your charisma modifier .
  • Coerced Soul: Your bardic inspiration die is considered one size larger (d6>d8>d10>d12>d20) Roll and the target gains hit points equivalent to the amount rolled plus you charisma modifier.
  • Willing Soul: Your bardic inspiration die is considered one size larger (d6>d8>d10>d12>d20) Roll the dice, any amount less than half the dies max is considered half, and the target gains that amount plus twice your charisma bonus

Friends on the other side

As long as you have at least 1 soul in your pouch, you can cast the spell augury or speak with dead and commune with the souls for addition information.
you may use this feat a number of times equal to you charisma modifier. You regain all uses after a long rest.

Double Dealing

At 6th level, gain the ability to trade souls with another entity, specifically Death. In times of Peril you may exchange souls with Death to ensure your own survival.

When you are reduced to zero hit-points you may choose to release souls from your pouch, in exchange Death will grant you ease in passing or perhaps even decide to overlook you for now.

Harvested - Each soul of this type released counts as 1 death saving throw passed

Coerced - Each soul of this type counts as 2 death saving throws passed

Willing - Each soul of this type counts as a Critical Success on a death saving throw and you are revived with Hitpoints Equal to your Charisma score.

Once you have used this feature you may not use it again until you complete a long rest.

Devilish Inspiration

At 14th level, you lay claim to a still living soul. As an action, Expend a use of your bardic inspiration and claim a target you can see within 60ft of you. That target must make a Charisma saving throw against your spell DC. On a fail the creature must roll your bardic inspiration die on each attack, ability check and saving throw it makes and reduce its total by the amount rolled, for the next minute.

If the Creature Dies before this effect ends, its soul is collected and considered Willing.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
