Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

You fight in the name of Pistis Sophia, the Ascetic.  Pistis Sophia rules Solania, the Crystal Heaven and the fourth layer of Celestia. Embodying all that is serene and sincere, she always speaks the unclouded and undiluted truth, for in truth lies harmony and bliss. Even in the face of conflict, she never displays a temper or allows a scowl to cross her face. She wants for nothing and inspires others to pursue self-perfection by casting off possessions and clothing—symbols of greed and insecurity.

Pistis Sophia tours the various monasteries and cathedrals that rise from Solania’s breathtaking landscape, sand she particularly enjoys long walks through fog-shrouded valleys with groups of petitioners or visiting pilgrims.

Your "rage" is not a surge of anger, but rather a state of intense serenity and focus.

Ascetic Strike

Starting at 3rd level, you imitate the fighting style of your patron, who relies on her fists and feet.

You gain the following benefits while you are unarmed and you aren’t wearing armor or wielding a shield:

  • You can use Dexterity instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls of your unarmed strikes.
  • You can roll a d4 in place of the normal damage of your unarmed strike.
  • When you use the Attack action with an unarmed strike on your turn, you can make one unarmed strike as a bonus action.

You can add your rage damage to your unarmed strikes and use your Reckless feature with them even if you use Dexterity instead of Strength.

At 5th level, your unarmed strikes deal 1d6 damage.  At 6th level, your unarmed strikes count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.  At 11th level, your unarmed strikes deal 1d8 damage and 1d10 damage at 17th level.

Heaven's Heart

Beginning at 6th level, you can't be charmed or frightened while raging. If you are charmed or frightened when you enter your rage, the effect is suspended for the duration of the rage.

Peacemaker's Path

Starting at 10th level, Pistis Sophia grants you the power to help make peace. You gain proficiency in Insight and Persuasion.  You add twice your proficiency bonus to Wisdom (Insight) checks made to determine if a creature truly has peaceful intentions and to Charisma (Persuasion) checks made to persuade creatures to take a peaceful course of action.

You can cast Calm Emotions.  You can cast it even while raging.  Once you use this feature, you can’t use again until you finish a short or long rest.

Monk's Movement

Beginning at 14th level, you gain much of the agility and inner focus of monks.

You gain the ability to move along vertical surfaces and across liquids on your turn without falling during the move.

You can use your reaction when you fall to reduce any falling damage you take by an amount equal to five times your Barbarian level.

You gain 3 ki points that you regain when you finish a short or long rest.  You can spend 1 ki point to take the Disengage or Dash action as a bonus action on your turn, and your jump distance is doubled for the turn.

You are encouraged to replace the 20th level feature Primal Champion with the following ability:

Ascetic Mastery

By 20th level, you have mastered many of the techniques that monks use.

You now have 5 ki points.

Immediately after you take the Attack action on your turn, you can spend 1 ki point to make two unarmed strikes as a bonus action.

You can spend 1 ki point to take the Dodge action as a bonus action on your turn if you did not use your Reckless feature that turn.

You can interfere with the flow of ki in an opponent’s body.  Once per turn when you hit another creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to attempt a stunning strike. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against a DC of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier or be stunned until the start of your next turn.

You can use your reaction to deflect or catch the missile when you are hit by a ranged weapon attack.  When you do so, the damage you take from the attack is reduced by 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Barbarian level.

If you reduce the damage to 0, you can catch the missile if it is small enough for you to hold in one hand and you have at least one hand free.  If you catch a missile in this way, you can spend 1 ki point to make a ranged attack with the weapon or piece of ammunition you just caught, as part of the same reaction.  You make this attack with proficiency, regardless of your weapon proficiencies, and the missile has a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet.
