Base Class: Barbarian
From time to time, there is born a child in which a seemingly unquellable rage takes residence. An existence occupied by stife and conflict lies before them, and lacking a proper outler for this anger, perhaps even a life of ruin.
It is the wise or perhaps lucky individual born into such circumstance who takes a firm grasp upon their existential frustration and wrestle it into submission.
Contrasting greatly with the prototypical brutish ways of those who carry with them the moniker of Barbarians, an individual who chooses to follow the Path of the Disciplined is one who seeks to control and refine the ferocity that lies within. To take this journey is to learn to subdue one's impulse to lash out in a rage, and instead hone that anger into a more perfect, calculated fury.
Empowered Discipline
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you learn to restrain yourself in order to cultivate your rage into something far more powerful.
At the end of each of your turns during which you did not Rage, you gain 1 Discipline Charge (maximum 2) provided that at least one of the following have occurred since the end of your last turn.
- You made an attack against a hostile creature.
- You took damage inflicted by a hostile creature.
Your current Discipline Charges decrease by 1 at the end of each of your turns that you have not gained a Discipline Charge or Raged.
You gain additional bonuses throughout the duration of a Rage based on the number of Discipline Charges you have when entering a Rage.
DISCIPLINE CHARGE RAGE BONUSES:
- 1 Charge: +2 Strength, +2 Dexterity (Cannot exceed 30) 1d6 + half Barbarian Lv (round down) Temp HP
- 2 Charges: +4 Strength, +4 Dexterity (Cannot exceed 30) 2d6 + half Barbarian Lv (round down) Temp HP
- 3 Charges: +6 Strength, +6 Dexterity (Cannot exceed 30) 3d6 + half Barbarian Lv (round down) Temp HP
- 4 Charge: +8 Strength, +8 Dexterity (Cannot exceed 30) 4d6 + half Barbarian Lv (round down) Temp HP
- 5 Charges: +10 Strength, +10 Dexterity (Cannot exceed 30) 1d6 + half Barbarian Lv (round down) Temp HP
The maximum number of Discipline Charges you can acquire increases to 3 at level 6, to 4 at level 10, and to 5 at level 14.
Honed Restraint
Beginning at 3rd level, immediately after ending your Rage prematurely as a bonus action, you can choose to expend 1 Discipline Charge in order to attempt to recover the expended use of your Rage. Make a DC 10 (+1 for each round that your current Rage has lasted) Wisdom saving throw. On a successful save, you regain the expended use of Rage. On a failed save, your Rage ends prematurely as normal
Channelled Emotion
Beginning at 6th level, your tempered will grants you the ability to channel your emotions into a limited set of preternatural abilities. You gain the ability to cast the Calm Emotions spell at 2nd level, the Enhance Ability spell at 2nd level, or the Heroism spell at 2nd level. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spell. When you use this feature to cast one of these spells, you must finish a Long Rest before you can use this feature again
Forces of Provocation
Beginning at 10th level, you are able to gain one additional Discipline Charge at the end of each of your turns if you would also receive a Discipline Charge through the Empowered Discipline class feature. In order to receive this additional Discipline Charge, at least one of the following must have occurred since the end of your last turn:
- Yourself, or an allied creature that you can see was damaged by a critical hit from a hostile creature.
- An allied creature that you can see was reduced to 0 hit points by a hostile creature.
- You failed a Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution saving throw triggered by a hostile creature.
Spotless Mind
Beginning at 10th level, when you enter a Rage and have at least 3 Discipline Charges, you can attempt to maintain concentration on a spell which you are casting.
You must make a Wisdom ability check, the DC of which is equal to 10 + the level of the spell.
On a successful check, you maintain concentration on the spell as you enter your Rage. On failed check, you may either choose to expend a number of Discipline Charges equal to the spell's level in order to maintain concentration, or instead lose concentration of the spell upon entering your Rage. You do not gain the Rage benefits of any Discipline Counters expended by this effect as you enter a Rage.
Ever Resolute
Beginning at 14th level, you gain proficiency in Wisdom saving throws. Additionally, if you fail a saving throw while raging, you can expend 2 Discipline Charges and end your Rage immediately in order to instead succeed against that saving throw.
