Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Kraken spend their lives idolizing the magnificent power of the kraken. They learn techniques that let them effortlessly toss their opponents, command aquatic creatures, and summon lightning storms. Schools are commonly found in large Merfolk and Triton cities, where many of the masters will have personally communicated with one of the great leviathans.

Kraken Technique

When you chose this tradition at 3rd level, your training lets you control the movement of enemies on the battlefield. If you hit a Large or smaller creature that you are Grappling with an unarmed strike, you can throw it up to 20 feet away and knock it prone. When you reach 11th level in this class, you can choose to throw it up to 40 feet away.

If a thrown target strikes a solid surface, the target takes damage. This damage is bludgeoning, and its damage die is a d4. This die changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the monk table. If the target is thrown at another creature, that creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take the same damage and be knocked prone.

Ink Cloud

Starting at 6th level, you can channel your ki to escape from enemies. Whenever you activate Step of the Wind, you can spend an additional ki point to cast Darkness without providing material components.

Lord of the Deep

Starting at 11th level, lesser creatures will dread your very presence. As an action, you can spend 4 ki points to cast Fear. If your target has a swim speed, it has disadvantage on its saving throw.

Force of Nature

At 17th level, even storms heed your command. As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to create a bolt of lightning that can strike a target you can see within 120 feet. A target must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d10 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

You can create additional bolts of lightning by spending ki points. For every 2 points you spend, to a maximum of 4, you can create an additional bolt of lightning.
