Base Class: Wizard
Founded as an order of imperial guards for a fallen dwarven kingdom, the arts of the Doom-Forged have spread to other cultures, sometimes stoic guardians bound by duty, sometimes they are marauders lashing out at the world.
Proficiencies
Gain proficiency in Smith's Tools, Light Armor, and Medium Armor, as well as the Light Hammer, Warhammer and Maul.
Tempered in Anger
At 2nd level, every Doom-Forged Battlemage crafts their own suit of armor. This process is part of a bonding process that amplifies their arcane power. This armor may be of any type that the mage is proficient, and each of the gauntlets of that armor becomes an Arcane Focus for the Doom-Forger. When the wearer takes elemental damage, their next attack or spell that deals damage before the end of their next turn deals an additional 1d4 damage of that elemental type. The wizard may have only one suit of Doom-Forged Armor, and if a new one is created, the old one becomes inert, simply a set of armor of its type. The process of converting it is done during the creation or customization of the armor in a process taking one hour, and may be done once each day.
The Anvil of Rage
At 6th level, the world becomes the anvil upon which the Battlemage strikes. He may except a number of squares within his Area of Effect spells equal to his Intelligence modifier. These squares are not lost, and instead may be applied to any square within ten feet of the original area affected by the spell.
Font of Sorrows
At 10th level the Doom-Forged Battlemage masters the art of true defense: Constant offense. While maintaining concentration on a spell, the power contained within his armor radiates outward, each successful melee attack or damaging spell that affects a target within 10 feet causes an additional burst of energy that affects a single target within 10 feet, causing 2d8 Fire damage, half on a successful Reflex save.
Simulacrum
At 14th level, ingenuity and sacrifice collide. If the Battlemage is reduced to zero hit points, his armor's arcane bond reaches its point of apotheosis, and it fulfills its purpose, protecting its owner at the cost of itself. The mage is teleported up to 30 feet away, and the damage from that attack is not applied to the wizard, the armor instead remaining in his place to take the blow. This destroys the armor itself, and the Battlemage does not gain the benefits of Tempered in Anger until a new suit is forged.
