Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of the Opening Mind teaches peace, tranquility, and transcendence of the physical form, finding that the combination of mind and spirit is the ultimate manifestation of life.

Path of Emotion

Gain access to certain abilities centered on emotions and reading them.

Assess Foe (2 psi).

As a bonus action, you analyze the aura of one creature you see. You learn its current hit point total and all its immunities, resistances, and vulnerabilities.

Read Moods (2 psi).

As a bonus action, you learn a one-word summary of the emotional state of up to six creatures you can see, such as happy, confused, afraid, or violent.

Path of Body

Brute Strike (1-4 ki).

As a bonus action, you gain a bonus to your next damage roll against a target you hit with a melee attack during the current turn. The bonus equals +2d6 per Ki point spent, and the bonus damage is the same type as the attack. If the attack has more than one damage type, you choose which one to use for the bonus damage.

Knock Back (1-4 ki).

When you hit a target with a melee attack, you can activate this ability as a reaction. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be knocked 10 feet away from you per Ki point spent. The target moves in a straight line. If it hits an object, this movement immediately ends and the target takes 2d6 bludgeoning damage per Ki point spent.

Path of Force

Move (1-4 Ki).

Choose one object you can see within 60 feet of you that isn't being worn or carried by another creature and that isn't secured in place. It can't be larger than 20 feet on a side, and its maximum weight depends on the Ki points spent on this ability, as shown below.

As an action, you move the object up to 60 feet, and you must keep the object within sight during this movement. If the object ends this movement in the air, it falls. If the object would fall on a creature, the creature must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw or take damage as listed on the table below.

Ki Spent Maximum Weight Bludgeoning Damage
1 25 lbs. 2d6
2 100 lbs. 4d6

3 500 lbs. 7d6
4 1,000 lbs. 8d6

Path of Mind

Synchronic Control

You may spend four ki points in order to channel your energy upon the mind of one creature you can see. It must succeed on a wisdom saving throw or be charmed for one full minute. While the creature is charmed, you have a telepathic link with it as long as you remain on the same plane of existence. You can use this telepathic link to issue commands to it while you are conscious with no action required, and unless the action will directly cause the creature to die, the creature will obey to the best of its abilities. The creature may take no actions except the actions which you command it to make. Each time the target takes damage, it makes a new Wisdom saving throw against the spell. If the saving throw succeeds, the spell ends. Until the spell ends, you may not use your ki for any other action.

Psionic Ki

Your Ki can be converted into psionic energy to achieve powerful and esoteric effects, but it takes time and practice to fully access this ability.

At level 3 you can convert 1 Ki point at a time

At level 6, you can convert 2

At 11, 3

and at 17, 4
