Base Class: Bard
In the plane of Mechanus, the modrons are beings of absolute order; there is only balance in the plane, with there being equal amounts everything and every being has its place and function. This is where the Bardic College of Correction draws their power from, however it is used in a much different manner than the modrons intended.
The Bard College of Correction is diametrically opposed to the concept of balance and order. Instead, they see reality as being mutable, and “Corrections”, as they call them are always necessary. Whether the corrections were actually necessary is always up to the interpretation of each individual bard, and bards from this college rarely agree on any position, as god complexes are quite common from its members due to their ability to change reality at a whim.
Critical Personality
When you join the College of Correction at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Investigation and Insight checks.
Edit Aspect
When you join the College of Correction at 3rd level, you gain the ability to manipulate the order of everything around you to a limited extent.
As an action on your turn, you can expend one use of your bardic inspiration to change the aspect of a creature or item within 60 feet of you. You can only have one use of Edit Aspect active at any given time.
When used on a creature, an unwilling creature must make a wisdom saving throw or be affected by one of the following effects:
- Changing it’s typing (For example, giant to undead, dragon to humanoid, etc.)
- Adding or Modifying one of its movement speed by a number equal to 1d6 times 5.
- Modifying one of it’s immunities, resistances, or vulnerabilities.
- Adding or Modifying one of its visions by 60 feet.
- Adding or Removing one of its actions.
When used on an item, it will be affected by one of the following effects:
- Increase or decrease it’s damage die by one die size.
- Changing it’s damage type.
- Adding a damage type of your choice by a number equal to 1d6.
- Adding or removing one of its properties.
- Increasing or decreasing its AC by a number equal to 1d6.
- Increasing or decreasing it’s range by a number equal to 1d6 times 10.
- Increasing or decreasing its size and/or weight.
- Adding to or removing its stealth capabilities.
The amount of targets you can choose with each use increases by 1 at 10th level, and by to at 15th level.
This effect lasts for one minute. At the end of each of its turns, the target can make another Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the effect ends on the target.
Spell Correction
At 6th level, you can edit a creature’s spell as it is casting it. As a reaction, you can change a spell that a creature is casting to a different spell. If the creature is unwilling, it must make a wisdom saving throw and be affected by this feature on a failed save. This spell must have a vocal component and use a spell slot with an equal or lesser value as the original spell. Additionally, you must have seen the desired spell used before. It is not required for the creature to know the spell you change it to.
In addition, you can use your Edit Aspect ability on the target using the same reaction without expending a bardic inspiration.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Retroactive Continuity
At 14th level, when you use the Edit Aspect ability, you can choose to create a “15-ft sphere of influence” instead of targeting a singular creature or object. You can create as many spheres of influence as you have targets available to you based on your bard level. For example, a level 10 bard would be able to target 2 creatures or objects, or create two 15-ft spheres of influence, or a combination of targets and spheres.
A sphere of influence can not be bound to a creature. It can only be bound to an object or point in space within 60 feet of you. Entering a sphere subjects any creature to the effect of Edit Aspect active within that space. You can end the effect by moving out of the sphere’s radius.
As a bonus action, you can change the target of the sphere of influence to another object or point within 60 feet of you.
