Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Dakoron was a demon of moderate power who gathered an army and tried to overthrow the gods. History books rarely tell of his story, because he was hopelessly unsuccessful: his army was easily destroyed and Dakoron was banished to the Abyss. He has grown in power since and has attempted to gather mortals to his cause, which is to become the most powerful entity in all the planes. He gives power to those who desire it in exchange for favors. Favors may include spreading word of his power, painting his symbol on walls, seeking and killing a certain enemy, or sowing discontent among other religions.

As a seeker of power, you have either established contact with Dakoron or he has approached you and offered you power in exchange for favors. Either way, you have a mission sent to you by the Demon Lord of the Abyss that you must accomplish or attempt to accomplish to the best of your ability or relinquish your powers as a warlock.  If you succeed in helping your new master gain power in the material plane, you are rewarded with power of your own. You will receive a new task telepathically from your master 1d4 days after you complete you old task. Work with your DM to determine this mission, or roll on the table below.

D8 MISSION FROM YOUR PATRON
1 I must paint a group of three red slitted eyes on at least 100 walls so that Dakoron can magically view this plane through them.
2 I have to sow discontent among at least 3-5 temples so that they will seek out the Demon Lord of the Abyss more readily.
3 I need to kill at least 5 clerics or warlocks serving other entities. I will be punished if I help them.
4 I will spread word to at least 15-20 new people about the Demon Lord of the Abyss and praise him.
5 I seek a magic item or spell that may help Dakoron.
6 I seek to destroy a being or item that may pose a threat to Dakoron.
7 I must recruit a powerful creature to the Demon Lord's cause. If they refuse, I must kill them.
8 I need to find a fellow servant of Dakoron to punish them.

Abyssal Senses

You know Abyssal to better communicate with the Demon Lord of the Abyss and his minions. Additionally, you have darkvision out to 120 feet.

Open Contract

Your master gives you magical abilities to empower your body based on your flaws or disabilities. For example, if you lack good vision, Dakoron might give you truesight to 60 feet. If you aren't very smart, Dakoron might give you a permanent +2 to intelligence. If you have a low Constitution Score, you might gain an Unarmored Bonus worth 12+dex mod+cha mod. Work with your DM to decide on this ability.

Because it is an open contract, you might be rewarded with extra or improved abilities for accomplishing Dakoron's will, or have these gifts taken away for defying it.

Dark Reward

After you complete a task for the Demon Lord of the Abyss, you gain one first-level spell slot. After you complete two separate tasks, you gain one second level spell slot. After you complete three separate tasks for your master, you get one third level spell slot. This is the same for fourth and fifth level spell slots. You may gain a maximum of extra spell slots equal to your charisma modifier.

Abyssal Strike

Choose one damage type not including piercing, slashing, or bludgeoning. Whenever you deal that type of damage, you regain half that many hitpoints. If this attack kills the creature or is a critical hit, regain hitpoints equal to the damage dealt. You can change the type of damage every long rest.

Curse of the Abyss

Starting at 14th level, when you hit a creature with an attack, you can use this feature to curse the creature with exposure to the abyss. For the next minute, they are blinded, deafened, and have their speed reduced to zero. In addition, they take 2d8 psychic damage.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
