Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

An icon of irritation, the Jester is a master of utilizing their vexatious presence to throw off their adversaries, and to enshroud their actions with an outwardly benign and vacuous innocence.

Biting Commentary

At 3rd level, you learn the Vicious Mockery cantrip, and its damage die increases to a d6. If they are non-hostile, neither the target nor any other surrounding creatures are aware that the spell is causing actual harm when you cast it, until you have dealt an amount of damage equal to the target’s Wisdom score, or half their maximum HP (whichever comes first). Each time you continue to use it thereafter, a suspicious creature can make an Insight check contested with your Persuasion check to realize that you are casting harmful magic.

Insufferable

At 9th level, you become an expert at getting under an individual’s skin. You can use an action to force a hostile creature to make a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). The creature must be able to hear you, and the two of you must share a language.

On a failed save, they suffer disadvantage on all attacks against creatures other than you.

The creature also takes a penalty to their attack rolls against you equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one), but a bonus to damage rolls equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one) if they hit you.

This effect lasts for 1 minute, until one of your companions attacks the target or affects it with a spell, or until you and the target are more than 60 feet apart.

On each of your turns while the effect is active, you can take a bonus action to further infuriate the creature, increasing the modifier to their attack and damage rolls by 1 (to a maximum of 5). This resets for each use of the feature.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to half your Charisma modifier (rounded up, minimum of once), and regain all expended uses after a long rest.

In the Palm of Your Hand

Starting at 13th level, creatures provoke opportunity attacks from you when they miss attack rolls against you while under the effect of Insufferable.

At 20th level, creatures provoke opportunity attacks from you whenever they miss you with an attack at all.

Firebrand

At 17th level, whenever a creature under the effects of Insufferable misses you with an attack, you can choose a different creature within 5 feet of you. The attack automatically hits that creature. They take the normal damage of the attack, in addition to the damage modifier that would have applied if the attack had hit you.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, and regain all expended uses after a short or long rest.
