Bard
Base Class: Bard

Therapists are a breed of bards that use their magic to heal physical and psychic wounds.  Some wander the land dispensing aid wherever they see fit, while others tend to the needs of a particular community.

Improved Song of Rest

At 3rd level, your Song of Rest restores additional hit points equal to your bard level.

Insightful Healer

Starting at 3rd level, whenever you make a Wisdom (Insight) check to determine whether a creature is lying or make a Wisdom (Medicine) check, treat a roll of 7 or lower on the d20 as an 8.

Therapy Spells

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you learn the cantrips Guidance and Resistance.

You also learn the spells Cure Wounds, Healing Word, Aid, Calm Emotions, and Lesser Restoration.  For each spell you already know, you can learn a bard spell that you could learn at this level.

These cantrips and spells don't count against the number of bard spells you know.

Counseling Session

At 6th level, you can provide long-term assistance to those who come to you for counsel.  You can spend one hour with another creature frankly discussing its problems and giving advice about how to deal with them.  If the creature is honest and actively participates, it gains a special benefit.  For the next week, whenever it finishes a long rest, it gains a therapy die.

A therapy die acts like a Bardic Inspiration die.  Although you cannot spend a therapy die and a Bardic Inspiration die on the same roll, you can have both a therapy die and a Bardic Inspiration die at the same time. Creatures can have only a single therapy die at a time.

A creature can benefit from a counseling session in this manner only once per week.

Let It All Out

Beginning at 14th level, you come to understand the benefits of what some call "yelling therapy."  When you give a creature a Bardic Inspiration die, it can immediately use its reaction to release its pent-up stress in a tremendous shout.  This acts like the spell Thunderwave.  If the creature does so, it finds the experience highly cathartic, giving it temporary hit points equal to half your bard level.

The DC of the shout is 8 + the creature's proficiency bonus + its Constitution modifier.
