Base Class: Fighter
Pious Templars are exemplars of faith and fury. They serve their god with a fervor that puts most clerics to shame. Unbent, unbowed, unbroken, they are holy war personified.
Guided
Starting at 3rd level, your deity grants you the power to be their champion. Whenever you make an ability check to which you add your proficiency bonus, roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the result.
Enduring Faith
Starting at 3rd level, whenever you make a saving throw against being charmed or frightened, roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the result.
Smite
At 3rd level, you can make a special smite attack by invoking your god's wrath. When you make a weapon attack, you can add 4 to the result. You must declare the smite before making the attack. If it hits, it deals additional damage equal to your Fighter level. Choose what type of damage it is when you get this feature. It could be divided equally into two or more types of damage. The damage type(s) should be tied to your deity.
As it stems directly from your deity, this additional damage ignores both resistance and immunity to damage.
Once you use this feature, you must wait until you finish a short or long rest to use it again.
Divine Mettle
Your devotion allows you to totally ignore your foes' assaults. Starting at 7th level, when you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Constitution or Wisdom saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw.
Sacred Ground
At 10th level, you can imbue the surrounding area with your god's might. As a bonus action, you call out to your deity and slam your weapon against the ground. The area in a 30-foot radius around you glows with divine power for 1 hour. Each creature of your choice in the area gets a +1 bonus to all attack rolls and saving throws as long as they remain there.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
Blessed Surge
Starting at 15th level, when you use your Action Surge, you receive a +1 bonus to attack rolls, ability checks, saving throws, and AC until the start of your next turn. This stacks with the bonuses provided by Sacred Ground.
Wrath of God
At 18th level, you can unleash your god's power in a spectacular display. As an action, choose any creatures you are aware of within 60 feet of you. They take 8d6 points of damage. Any 1s, 2s, or 3s on this damage are treated as 4s. The damage is the same type(s) that your Smite deals. This damage ignores resistance and immunity to damage. Alternatively, you can deal 12d6 damage to a single target.
The appearance of this feature depends on your deity. It could vary from a rain of swords or pillars of fire to grim reapers assailing your foes.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
