Base Class: Monk
The monk has learned the ability to sense and to manipulate the different realms of possibility that stem from his present moment into the future. It allows him to predict attacks before they come, to pick *just* the right path to allow him to move with incredible speed and grace, and even to perform incredible feats that defy reality itself.
Krell the Manifold Monk
The object Krell looked at was a fist-sized amber object, it caught the light in an alluring, delightful way. When he touched the gem and looked into the reflective facets inside, a female voice sighed inside his head and said "Finally! I have someone to play with."
An instant later he felt his mind split into an uncountable number of fragments, each hanging suspended in an unknowable void - a seemingly infinite number of tiny mind fragments connected together by fragile filaments of thought. The moment stretched out into eternity, then each of the mind fragments shifted subtly, as if each one belonged to a different Krell, and his perception of time started to gradually move forward.
He experienced each of the infinite Krells making decisions, and living out his life, out into the future - first seconds, then minutes, then hours ahead, then weeks and years. He saw an infinite number of futures unfold in front of him, and experienced the vastness of possibility.
After an untold amount of time passed, the female voice returned, sounding bemused - "Just a taste, that's probably enough. Don't want to break you."
The guards found him staring wide eyed into the gemstone and pulled him away, he went willingly but silently. They said that there was no trace of anything untoward left in his mind - in theory he was clean. But Krell was forever affected. He forgot almost all of the futures he saw, though he never forgot the feeling of infinite expansiveness that accompanied his vision.
He does, however, remember a handful of the futures he saw... and has learned the ability to sense and to manipulate the different realms of possibility that stem from his present moment into the future. It allows him to predict attacks before they come, to pick *just* the right path to allow him to move with incredible speed and grace, and even to perform incredible feats that seem defy reality itself.
Planar Arts
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to see into other Manifolds and draw their eventualities into your own. Functionally, this is represented by a number of new spell options cast using ki points.
- As an action, you can spend 3 ki points to cast blur.
- As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast pass without trace or darkness, with no material components required.
- You can spend 2 ki points to cast augury with indicated casting time and components. Once per long rest you can also cast augury as a ritual, consuming no ki points.
Finally, you gain the minor illusion cantrip if you don’t already know it.
Planar Step
At 6th level you gain the ability to temporarily shift between Manifolds when the barrier between worlds is weakest. When in dim light or darkness, as a bonus action you can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is also in dim light or darkness. You then have advantage on the first melee attack you make before the end of the turn.
Manifold Insurance
By 11th level your link to other Realms is such that, in moments of great peril, you can turn a killing blow into a glancing strike. Or so you think – on more sleepless nights you consider the possibility that the blow killed you, and you simply dragged a living version of yourself into this reality to replace your dead self. Or perhaps that living version took the final strike in place of you, and you shunted his dying corpse off to that other reality – out of sight, out of mind. You try not to think on it too much.
Either way, when you are reduced to 0 hit points you can now expend 1 ki point (no action required) to be reduced to 1 hit point instead.
Planar Allies
At 17th level, you gain the ability to pull your planar selves into this Manifold to fully support you in combat. When you use your Flurry of Blows they strike as one to complement your action; on top of your ordinary two strikes, you can roll three additional attacks as part of the same bonus action, provided each of the additional attacks is directed at a different creature than your own.
Note that you yourself may be called upon to participate in battles in different realities once you gain this ability.
