Spell Weavers study a specialized form of battle magic that allows them to cast certain spells quickly and with little effort. They do this by improvising simplified, inferior versions of their spells that they are able to cast near simultaneously with their other spells.

Quickened Cantrip

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level you learn how to subtlety combine the gestures and sounds needed to cast your spells. Whenever you cast a spell of 1st level or higher you may also choose a cantrip that you know with a casting time of 1 action and change its casting time to 1 bonus action until the end of your current turn.

Spell Weaving

Beginning at 2nd level, you learn a special technique for simplifying spells. Choose two Wizard spells of 5th level or lower that you are able to cast with a casting time of one action from your spell list to create simplified variants of. You may still cast these spells as normal. In order to simplify a spell, it must be a Wizard spell and you must be able to cast it using a spell slot before you are able to simplify it.

For each simplified spell, choose all but one of the applicable penalties:

  • Range is halved
  • Area of Effect is halved
  • Damage dice and flat damage are halved, rounded up
  • If the duration is 1 minute or more, it's reduced to "Until the end of your next turn" if you target yourself or "Until the end of the target's next turn" if it targets another creature
  • You have disadvantage on any attacks rolls and the target has advantage on any saving throws imposed by the spell
  • If the spell creates multiple attacks, such as Magic Missle or Scorching Ray, the number of attacks made are reduced to 1.

Simplified spells gain the following benefits:

  • They may be cast as a bonus action and do not restrict your ability to cast other spells of 1st level or higher.
  • They do not expend a spell slot

You can cast each of your simplified spells once. You regain your ability to cast them when you finish a long rest.

By spending 8 hours in study, you can modify or exchange one or more of the spells you chose for different spells of 5th level or lower.

Salvo

Starting at 6th level, your casting becomes so fluid that each spell you cast seems to carry you into another. If you used the Quickened Cantrip feature on your previous turn, you may use the momentum to carry on into a salvo.

Salvo: When you cast a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action you may choose another cantrip with a casting time of one action and change its casting time to 1 bonus action until the end of your current turn.

Improved Weaving

Beginning at 10th level, you can choose a second penalty to ignore for your simplified spells.

Masterful Weaving

Starting at 14th level, you may simplify a total of four spells, rather than two.. Additionally, when you cast one of your simplified spells you can choose to ignore all penalties on it for a single casting.

The first time you do so, you suffer no adverse effect. If you use this feature again before you finish a long rest, you take 2d12 necrotic damage for each level of the spell, immediately after you cast it. Each time you use this feature again before finishing a long rest, the necrotic damage per spell level increases by 1d12. This damage ignores resistance and immunity.
