Base Class: Paladin
Paladins who swear by the Oath of the Word are driven by a love for language and communication in all their forms. Whether spoken languages, written languages, or languages made of body gestures and positioning, they are sworn to catalog, preserve, and spread them all. They know better than nearly anyone how precious and how dangerous words can be in the right and wrong hands. They dream of a world where everyone understands each other’s words perfectly, and no word will ever be forgotten again.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of the Word Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.
Written on Your Face. You can use your Channel Divinity to augment your abilities with the powers inherent to the written and spoken word. As a bonus action, you gain advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) and Wisdom (Insight) checks for the next 10 minutes.
Speak Clearly. You can use your Channel Divinity to be heard no matter the situation. As a bonus action, if an effect would silence you or prevent you from speaking, you may become immune to it for 1 hour. This only grants you the ability to speak, and it only works on the effect that you used this ability on.
Written For the Future
Starting at 7th level, once per short rest you can spend a spell slot while writing, carving, or painting a sentence or phrase on a suit of armor, weapon, shield, or holy symbol that you own. The words are written in a divine language that only you can read. This process takes 1 minute of uninterrupted time per level of the spell being written. A spell you have memorized currently that does not require Concentration and with a casting time of 1 action or less is stored in that item for a number of days equal to your paladin level. No single item can carry more than one spell. As a bonus action, you may cast any spell stored in an item that you are currently wearing or wielding, expending it and erasing the written text. You do not need to have the spell memorized currently in order to cast it.
Words of Encouragement
Starting at 15th level, when a friendly creature within 60 feet fails a saving throw, you may spend a reaction to make them reroll. They must take the new result.
The Language of Reality
When you reach level 20, as an action, you can call upon the true power of the spoken word. For 1 minute you gain the following benefits:
- You can cast one of Power Word: Heal, Power Word: Pain, or Power Word: Stun a single time without using spell slots. Any saving throws to resist or end their effects are made with disadvantage.
- You are immune to the effects of Power Word: Pain, Power Word: Stun, and Power Word: Kill.
- You may ignore the somatic and material components of all spells you cast.
- Your touch spells gain a range of 30 feet.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
