Base Class: Bard
The bards of the College of Brushes are prodigies of arcane aesthetic who can capture and bend the form and flow of arcane energies into their works of art. Many bards of this college have their names immortalized on canvases for generations in great halls of galleries. These bards are driven by an insatiable inspiration to capture the beauty both the natural and supernatural worlds in their works.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you join the College of Brushes at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with painter's supplies and one other artisan's tools of your choice. Additionally you can use an artisan's tool of your choice as your spellcasting focus.
Magical Muse
Additionally at 3rd level, you learn how to store magical properties into your paints and brushes.
During a long rest you can create magically infused artworks known as Magical Muses of friendly creatures you can see. You can create a maximum number of Magical Muses equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one,) these Magical Muses last until you take a long rest. Each Magical Muse you create can be of a different friendly creature.
These Magical Muses are a magical representation of that creature and you have mimicked some of their strength within the canvas. As an action you can invoke the canvas to perform an ability check of your choice using the stats of the creature you created a Magical Muses of using their ability scores and proficiency bonuses instead of your own. Alternatively, you can use you action to invoke the Magical Muses to make a melee attack roll using the creatures stats, modifiers, and weapons they had at the time. These attacks are considered magical for the sake of overcoming resistances. Using a Magical Muse to make an ability check or attack uses up the magic within the Magical Muse destroying it in the process.
Expert Painter
At 6th level you gain expertise in painter's supplies. If you already have expertise in painter's supplies you can gain expertise in another artisan's tools you are proficient in, or gain proficiency in a new artisan's tool of your choice.
Arcane Artistry
Additionally at 6th level you become more adept at gleaning magic from your surroundings into your artistic endeavors, bolstering them with arcane artistry. When a spell is cast within 60 feet of you, you can use your reaction to siphon some of its effect into a sketch of the spell itself.
The spell you sketch must have a casting time of either one action or bonus action and must be of a spell level equal to or lower than the highest spell level you are able to cast. On your following turn you can use your action to cast the spell that you used your reaction to sketch. The spell does not need to be part of the Bard spell list and uses your Charisma as the spellcasting modifier. When you cast the sketched spell you may cast it with any available spell slot to you. If you do not use your action to cast the spell, the sketch magically fades away and is unable to be cast; however, this does not count as having expended your use of Arcane Artistry if the spell is not cast.
You can do this feature twice and you regain all uses of Arcane Artistry on a long rest.
Artistic Expression
At 14th level your talents with magical artistry has given your paints and brushes a magical power strong enough to bolster arcane effects around them. When you cast a spell you can spend one use of Bardic Inspiration to amplify the spells color and shape of the spell. Additionally if a spell is cast by another creature other than yourself you can use your reaction to alter the spell as well.
When you alter the spell with Bardic Inspiration you may choose up to two of the following effects to occur:
- You may increase or decrease the damage rolled on your Bardic Inspiration die.
- You may increase or decrease the spells range by 30 feet, potentially causing it to miss a target.
- You may increase or decrease a spell that effects an area by 5 feet.
- You may change the spells damage type to either fire, cold, or lightning.
