Base Class: Sorcerer
Through some strange situation, you were somehow born without a soul. instead your body plays host to a great well of necrotic energy, which you can manipulate into spells. your inability to reach the after life, coupled by the necrotic energies ability to regenerate your body, prevents you from dying to normal means. many journey to find the location of their souls, for their immortality does not prevent them from suffering old age. This is never easy, for only powerful beings and artifacts are capable of keeping ones soul for eternity, and those that take souls rarely want to give them back. some still see their abilities as an untold well of power, and use their immortality to put great plans into motion.
Undeath
when you take damage that would instantly kill you or fail 3 death saving throws you do not truly die, for you have no soul to go to the afterlife. for all rule purposes you are dead, and healing will not bring you back. however after 1d4 hours of being dead you regain 1 hit point and are brought back in the same manner as if you were stable for 1d4 hours, please note this could result in you not having your full body, or in some extreme cases no body at all. in the place of missing body parts is a ghostly apparition of necrotic energy. This energy can move, and for all rules purposes is treated as if it was your body. it however cannot interact with the world in any physical way except to move, and is stopped by any obstacles that would stop your physical body. When you lose a portion of your body you can choose which portion your necrotic energy stays with. for example if you were beheaded in battle, you could choose to lose your head and stay with the body, or stay with your head and lose the body. The lost body parts would then be replaced by your necrotic energy, and only the physical parts you chose to stay with would be able to function. in the case that your body is completely destroyed, only your necrotic energies will remain.
in addition, you cannot restore hit points using normal means. you can gain temporary hit points as normal.
you are undead in addition to any other creature types, you also gain a vulnerability to radiant damage, and a resistance to necrotic damage.
magic and effects that work on souls still effect you as normal, but instead of using your soul instead utilize your necrotic energies and consciousness.
Necrotic gift
You learn the chill touch cantrip in addition to your starting cantrips, and gain a number of hit points equal to your constitution modifier when you damage a creature with it. in addition you can cast it without needing verbal or somatic components. you can cast this even when your necrotic energy is all that remains.
you gain the ability to regenerate portions of your body using the energies that sustain you. as an action, you can reduce your current hit points by 6, this damage cannot reduce you to less then 1 hit point. over the course of 6 seconds (or at the start of your next turn when in combat) you regain an arm, leg, torso, or head that you had lost previously.
Necrotic Manipulation
at level 6 your mastery over your necrotic energies has increased to the point that you can create pockets of energy as an extension of yourself.
you can spend 3 sorcery points to place a pocket of necrotic energy inside a creature within 10ft as a 10 minute ritual. that creature must stay in range for the whole rituals duration, and the effect lasts as long as that creature is within the same plane of existence as you. you can have this effect a number of creatures equal to your constitution modifier (to a minimum of 1).if you attempt to use this on a creature when you have the maximum number of creatures under this effect then the ritual fails. you can do one of the following as an action.
- you can see through an effected creatures eyes and ears, gaining the benefit of any special senses it has. for the duration you are incapacitated. you can end this effect at any time (no action required on your part). if your body takes damage this effect immediately ends.
-you cast chill touch from the creatures position. measure range as if the creature was casting the spell.
-end the effect on a chosen creature.
Dark possession
you have mastered manipulating your necrotic energies, and can support creatures who have your necrotic energy. as an action you can spend 3 sorcery points to "possess" a creature that contains a pocket of your necrotic energies. you are incapacitated for the duration of this ability. For the duration the creature receives the same healing you do if you cast chill touch, and you can cast any spells through them as if they were the caster provided those spells don't require concentration, and don't have material components with a GP cost. in addition the creature is immune to instant death , and is instead stabilized if it reaches 0 hit points while this ability is active. you may also use your ability to regain body parts on this creature. during this abilities duration you take any damage the creature receives, however any effects other then damage do not effect you or your abilities. this effect ends when you reach zero hit points or when you end it as an action.
Wave of necrotic energy
you can cast chill touch using 1 sorcerer point. you can use this ability up to 10 times within 1 action.
