Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Whether it's Gods, Demons, Indescribable Ancient Horrors, etc etc, omnipotence makes them busy beings. At some point they have to delegate, and that's where their Personal Assistant comes into the picture. Lesser in renown but no less critical to keeping the universe spinning, when a Personal Assistant needs some relief they delegate to assistants of their own... That's where you come in, warlocks with a PA for a patron are tasked with helping them keep things organized and on track for their all-powerful clients.

The assignments, and demands of PA Patrons will often reflect their respective employer but you're a tiny cog in a big machine. The true purpose and impact of the relatively mundane hoops they make you jump through may only become apparent down the road but know that for better or worse doing your job well means you are the butterfly's wings that will cause a hurricane.

Additional Invocation Options:

Pact of the Tome:

  • Encyclopedic Knowledge: While you have your tome on your person you gain the effects of the Keen Mind feat. If your book is lost or destroyed you lose the accumulated knowledge starting over when you summon a new tome.

Pact of the Chain:

  • Two Places at Once (Prerequisite: 7th level): You gain the ability to have up to two familiars at a time instead of one.

Not a Hair Out of Place

At 6th level, you learn the value of detail. Your patron expects of you, what's expected of them: To nail every task down to the tiniest details. To aid you with this they share their acuity both of eye and of mind. You gain the effects of the Observant Feat:

  • Increase your Intelligence or Wisdom score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
  • If you can see a creature's mouth while it is speaking a language you understand, you can interpret what it's saying by reading its lips.
  • You have a +5 bonus to your passive Wisdom (Perception) and passive Intelligence (Investigation) scores.

Always on Call

Starting at 10th level, you've learned that your patron's whim can come at any moment so you've trained yourself to always be on call. You no longer need to Sleep (or Trance/Sentry mode) on long rests. In addition you can power through light exhaustion undeterred, your exhaustion levels are as follows:

  1. No effect
  2. Disadvantage on ability checks
  3. Speed halved
  4. Disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws
  5. Hit point maximum halved
  6. Speed reduced to 0
  7. Death

Hire an Intern

At 14th level, you gain enough trust from your patron to take on an assistant of your own. Once per tenday you can cast Simulacrum on yourself (without expending a spell slot or paying the 1,500 gp powdered ruby material cost) to create a copy of yourself to serve as an unpaid intern.
