Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

The Path of the Wardancer is not one chosen lightly. One must dedicate themselves entirely to the ebb and flow of the music, to the beat of the world around them. Be able to read the tiniest nuance in the situation and where their talents are best applied.

In practice, this manifests itself as a flowing dance through the field of combat, never staying still, never stopping. The dance builds and builds, gaining in tempo and, as the battle reaches it's crescendo, the Wardancer enters a frenzy of agile yet destructive motion, weapon striking home in a repeated, unpredictable but almost choreographed manner until the final notes die away and the battle is won.

Bonus Proficiencies

You gain proficiency in an instrument of your choice, and either the Acrobatics or Performance skill.

War Dance

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can go into a more flowing form of rage. If you do so, for the duration of your rage you gain the following benefits in addition to the standard benefits of your rage:

  • You can use your charisma modifier in place of either your dexterity modifier or constitution modifier for your unarmoured defense feature.
  • During your turn, if you make a melee attack against a creature, that creature can’t make opportunity attacks against you for the rest of your turn.
  • Your movement speed increases by 10 feet. In addition to the regular end conditions of your rage, the War Dance ends early if you use two hands to make an attack with a weapon.

Agile Movement

Starting at 6th level, non-magical difficult terrain does not slow you and you can also take the Dash action as bonus action on your turn whilst raging.

Primal Guidance

You learn the Augury and Locate Animals or Plants spells, and can cast these as rituals by performing a dance around a campfire (or similar source of fire) which serves as the material component.

Fluid Strikes

Starting at level 14, if you score a critical hit whilst your War Dance is in effect then you may roll d10’s in place of the additional damage dice you gain from the Brutal Critical class feature.
