Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

While many may run in fear or panic of thunder and lightning, those who practice the Storm of Solace do not waver, seeing the storm as a teacher and a great source of power. These wizards wish to channel the chaos and take advantage of its incredible speed and destructive capabilities. Wishing to truly embody the harnessing of the storm, the wizards channel their lightning magic through their own body, choosing it be the conduit, greatly increasing their physical prowess at the risk of damage to themselves. Requiring intense concentration and a cool head, they may seem stoic and relaxed on the battlefield, but if you don't pay attention, next thing you know you're getting shocked as they leap into action and strike with speed and precision. You will know that you're in the presence of the Storm of Solace ready to fight when static begins to crackle around their body and their hair becomes spiked and begins to turn white.

Originating from a nomadic tribe, those who choose this path are typically laid back and easygoing by nature, but if you agitate or rub them the wrong way, they are quick to retaliate, reflecting that of a peaceful setting that can be easily be brought to ruin by the brewing of a storm.

Electric Surge

Starting at 2nd level, you can activate Electric Surge. Lightning magic begins to flow through you , causing your body to become statically charged. You can feel electricity flow through veins, incorporating into your system as you feel your senses kick into overdrive. You can enter this state in battle as a bonus action.

While surging, you gain:

  • Enhanced reflexes, causing attack rolls against you to have disadvantage
  • Greater speed, doubling your walking speed
  • You can disengage as a bonus action
  • Lightning aura, when you make a melee attack, inflict an additional lightning damage equal to 1d8 plus your DEX modifier.
    • Damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 6th level (2d8), 12th level (3d8), and 18th level (4d8)
    • You can also add the lightning damage if you attack with a ranged weapon made of metal
    • If you have Surge Protector Feature, you can choose to not apply extra damage
  • Resistance to lightning damage

When this technique is not fully mastered, the lightning is not perfectly contained and can inflict damage on the body. At the end each turn, take 1d8 lightning damage (resistance from surge applies)

If hit by an attack without Stormflash, make a DEX saving throw with DC 13 to see if you remain in Surge

Starting at 3rd level, your body begin to adapt and you gain Cardiac Current. If damage from Electric Surge would knock you unconscious, make a CON saving throw with DC 15. If success, your body is able to use electricity to run your bodily system and pump your heart, causing you to stay conscious with 1hp.

Starting at 5th level, your movements are like lightning, giving you another attack per turn.

Brewing Battery

Allow your internal storm to brew. By overcharging your surrounding aura with electricity, you create an additional barrier of defense around you.

This requires an action to activate and you cannot move for the round, instead gaining

  • Increase AC by INT modifier for 3 rounds

Ultrastatic

Starting at 6th level, your proficiency in lightning and it control in your body has greatly improved, allowing you are able to manipulate and amplify the static electricity of the body, enabling you to walk on water, walls and hold things with ease. You gain:

  • The ability to walk on water
  • The ability to walk on wall (climbing speed is equal to walking speed)
  • Advantage on grappling throws

Starting at the 9th level you can control the static electricity well enough that you can use Conducive Touch. Through physical contact, you can temporarily impart your static abilities to other objects. Using an action, you can choose to:

  • Temporarily give them Ultrastatic abilities for 1d4 rounds
  • As long as they are in contact with a surface, you can stick them in place

If they choose, targets can perform a DEX or STR saving throw to avoid the effects. The DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your INT modifier

Surge Protector

Starting at 10th level, the Lightning courses through your veins as if it was natural. Your respect for lightning has paid off as you are able to control its flow within your body with relative ease.

  • You are impervious to lightning damage and can redirect lightning magic or absorb it for temporary HP
  • No longer damage yourself when in Electric Surge
  • Can choose not to damage someone while in Electric Surge when they contact you

Killer Attraction

Starting at 10th level, your electrical abilities has given you a keen connection with your metal weapons. When thrown, they still retain your static presence, allowing you to sense them and more easily retrieve them.

If you land a thrown metal melee weapon hit, when you then are next to the target you can use an action to retrieve your weapon

  • The target then makes a DEX saving throw. DC = wizard level +  DEX modifier
  • If they fail, you retrieve your weapon and land a critical attack.
  • If they succeed, you just retrieve your weapon.

Stormflash

Starting the 14th level, you have achieved mastery over the lightning. You are the storm, wild, explosive. Electricity crackles from you with every step and thunder and lightning explode with every strike when you enter Electric Surge

  • With such blinding and deafening blows, the enemy must make a DEX saving throw.
    • DC = Your wizard level + your DEX modifier
    • If they fail, they are stunned for one turn.
  • You are drawn to metal, giving you advantage on attacks throws on enemies with large amounts of metal (heavy armor or great weapon)
  • You can now use your lightning to increase your jump power, giving you a free jump in any direction, up to your walking speed.
  • You are a storm, relentless, your surge state can only end if you fall unconscious or choose to do so.
