Base Class: Bard
Jesters are not famous for adventuring, but those that do decide to leave their life of servitude behind often find themselves as members of the College of Comedy. This college teaches its students to expand the skills they typically gain as bards, specifically focusing on their sharp wit and relentless sense of humor.
Bards who learn the ways of this college can utilize their jokes as weapons that distract enemies, leaving openings for allies or dispensing magically fueled gags to help relieve allies from potential hazards. These bards are often sought out by royalty and high ranking political figures who seek someone who excels at lightening the mood or breaking the tension, being able to liven up even the gloomiest of funerals. Many people admire these performers for their great wit, but some people are wary of these bards' potential to bend a person's will with relative ease using nothing more than a simple knock-knock joke.
Inspiring Amusement
When you join the College of Comedy, you learn to ward off harmful effects by spreading amusing humor out between yourself and nearby friends.
As a bonus action, spend one use of Bardic Inspiration to grant friendly creatures within 15 feet of you, a bonus to their next saving throw equal to your Charisma modifier. The number of creatures that can be affected by this is determined by your Bardic Inspiration roll.
Berating Ridicule
Starting at 3rd level, you learn the vicious mockery cantrip, if you don't already know it. This does not count against your list of known cantrips.
Your verbal ridicule is so disheartening that creatures hurt by your words, are especially down trodden, lowering their guard for just an instant. When you deal damage using vicious mockery, one friendly creature within 5 feet of the spell's target can use their reaction to immediately attack the target.
Forceful Cackling
At 6th level, you gain the ability to envelop nearby creatures in an aura of hilarity that causes them to laugh themselves into submission. As a bonus action, you cast tasha's hideous laughter, without expending a spell slot. When casting this spell in this way, you can target a number of creatures equal to your Charisma modifier.
You can simultaneously expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to give all chosen targets disadvantage on their saving throws to resist this spell.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Height of Comedy
At 14th level, your spells adapt aspects of your comedic prowess, forcing vulnerable creatures to laugh even if they don't want to.
Whenever a creature fails against your spell save DC by 5 or more, you can deal additional psychic damage to them as a reaction. The psychic damage is equal to your Bard level.
