Monk
Base Class: Monk

You follow a monastic tradition that teaches you to harness the elements. When you focus your ki, you can align yourself with the forces of creation and bend the four elements to your will, using them as an extension of your body.

Ki Bolt

At 3rd level, you undertake the mastery of combat styles which manipulate the forces of primordial energy. You gain a new attack option called Ki Bolt, that you can use with the Attack action. This special attack is a ranged spell attack with a range of 15 feet, and increases as you gain levels in this class. You are proficient with it, and you add your Wisdom modifier to its attack and damage rolls. The damage type dealt will vary based on your choice of Elemental Disciplines, and the damage die is a d4, which increases with your level in this class, as per The Monk table. The range increases by 5 feet at 5th (20 ft), 11th (25 ft) and 17th (30 ft) level.

When you use the Ki Bolt attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to make another Ki Bolt attack. When you gain the Extra Attack feature at 5th level, you can use your action to make the Ki Bolt attack twice instead of once.

Elemental Disciplines

At 3rd, 6th, 11th and 17th level you can choose one of the following four disciplines that empower your Martial Arts features before ultimately mastering them all.

Agile as the Wind
You can choose thunder as the damage type of your Ki Bolt. You also learn the Gust cantrip. Additionally, while concentrating, you can use your movement speed to hover up to 15 feet above the ground. You can move horizontally but you cannot move vertically higher than the allocated distance. The range of your hover distance increases by 5 feet at 5th (20 ft), 11th (25 ft) and 17th (30 ft) level.

Fierce as the Flame
Additionally, at the cost of 1 ki point, you can replace any ki bolt attack made on your turn with a Ki Blast. You unleash a 5 foot wide line of destructive energy that is 15 foot long. Creatures in the area of effect must make a dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC or suffer damage equal to one roll of your Martial Arts die. On a successful save, they take half damage. You can spend up to a number of ki points equal to your proficiency bonus, to empower the energy. For each ki point spent, you can roll an additional Martial Arts die and add it to the damage dealt. The range of your Ki Blast increases by 5 feet at 5th (20 ft), 11th (25 ft) and 17th (30 ft).

Immovable as the Mountain
You can choose bludgeoning as the damage type of your Ki Bolt. You also gain the Mold Earth cantrip. Additionally, spending ki points causes earth to swirl around your body, hardening your defences. You gain a cumulative bonus to your AC equal to the amount of ki points you have spent during this round, until the beginning of your next turn.

Tranquil as the Tides
You can choose cold as the damage type of your Ki Bolt. You also gain the Shape Water cantrip. Pull and push. Ebb and flow. Swell and surge. You learn to lessen the force of elements that bear down upon you and channel that energy back onto your opponent. When you are subject to a damage type learned through your Elemental Discipline, you can use your reaction to spend 1 ki point and cast Absorb Elements at 1st level. In place of the bonus damage granted by the spell, you can add an additional martial arts die worth of the triggering damage to the next melee or ki bolt attack made before the end of your next turn.
