Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

There is an old legend of an ancient group of people, that once sought to steal from the gods, when those still walked among the mortals. They were unsuccessful and as punishment the gods turned them to stone and put them as sentinels at certain places to guard their lands. When the gods left the material plane, they released the sentinels, that hadn't aged a day in all that time. After many generations some individuals found, that they had abilities, that resembled the old legends. So they thought of themselves as the descendants of those stone sentinels.

A Stone Sentinel can turn to stone at will. In this form they are perfectly suited for spying and ambushing in the wilderness, especially rocky terrain. Although casting magic is not possible while in stone form, you can use all your senses and concentration. Stone form can be useful as a defensive or even offensive tactic and may very well be, what safes a sorcerer's life.

Stone Speaker

Starting at 1st level, you can read, write and speak Terran.

Stone Form

As an action, you can turn to stone. While stone, you are under the following effects (resembling the petrified condition):

  • You are perceived as a rock formation or statue (your choice). A creature can make an Investigation check (DC 15) to discern, that you are a living creature.
  • You can't speak or move, but you are aware of your surroundings
  • Your weight increases by a factor of ten and you don't age
  • You don't need to eat, drink, breath or sleep (being in Stone Form during a long rest grants you the benefits without sleeping)
  • Attack rolls against you have advantage and you automatically fail Strength and Dexterity saving throws
  • You have resistance to all damage and are immune to poison and disease, although a poison or disease already in your system is suspended, not neutralized
  • You can't use your equipment (which is transformed into your stone form) or cast spells, but can concentrate on a previously cast spell
  • The only actions you can take are (later features add more options):
    • Use an action to revert to normal
    • Use the Ready action to specify a reaction to revert to normal

Splitting Stone

Starting at 6th level, you get more used to quickly come out of your Stone Form.
If you use your action or reaction to end your Stone Form, you can immediately make one weapon attack or cast one cantrip as part of that action or reaction.

Stone Moves

Starting at 6th level, you feel more comfortable interacting with the ground you stand on, regardless of the form you are in.
You gain resistance to bludgeoning damage from falling. Additionally, you - and all creatures you choose within 20ft of you - are not hindered by difficult terrain made of earth and stone.

Rolling Stone

Starting at 14th level, you overcome the burden of being stationary and charge through your enemies.

While in Stone Form, as an action you can move your walking speed in a straight line. Every creature in your path gets displaced 5 ft to the side (their choice) and must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 2d10 magical bludgeoning damage. To calculate the DC you use your Constitution modifier.

Quaking Stone

Starting at 18th level, you can manipulate a large chunk of ground around you.

While in Stone Form, as an action you can cause an earthquake in a circle with radius 60 ft around you. Every creature you choose of size huge or less standing on the ground in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC is calculated with your Constitution modifier). On a fail it takes 6d10 magical bludgeoning damage and falls prone. On a success it takes half damage and doesn't fall prone. You can choose to make the area difficult terrain (earth and stone based).

If you use this feature multiple times before finishing a long rest, the radius, damage and creature size decrease:
Second time: 40 ft radius, 4d10 damage, creature size large or less
Every subsequent time: 20 ft radius 2d10 damage, creature size medium or less

After finishing a long rest these stats reset to its full effect.
