Base Class: Fighter
Anyone can swing a sword, but a Soldier of Fortune can do it with style. These adventurers revel in danger, exploration, and the loot that comes with it. Such adventurers include pirate captains, reckless treasure hunters, and swashbuckling privateers.
Ready for Action
3rd-level Soldier of Fortune feature
You have the skills necessary to get the job done and get out. You gain proficiency with your choice of deception, intimidation, persuasion, or sleight of hand. You also gain proficiency with your choice of thieves' tools, navigator's tools, land vehicles, or water vehicles.
Adventurer's Bravado
3rd-level Soldier of Fortune feature
If there's going to be a fight, you're ready for it, and you're going to do it with some flair. You have 5 style points. You regain all expended style points after a short or long rest. You can use style points to enhance your natural abilities with different options described below:
- Boast: When you make a melee attack roll or a Charisma, Dexterity, or Strength check, you can spend 1 style point to psych yourself up and give yourself advantage on the roll. If the roll is an attack roll, it is a critical hit on a d20 roll of 19 or 20.
- Gloat: When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack, you can use your reaction and expend 1 style point to bolster your allies. Choose up to a number of other creatures within 30 feet that can see or hear you equal to your Charisma modifier. Each creature can gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier.
- Hearten: When another creature you can see within 30 feet misses with an attack, you can use your reaction and expend 1 style point to inspire the creature. The creature can reroll the attack roll.
- Taunt: When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you can spend 1 style point to mock the creature. You add your Charisma modifier to the damage roll, and the target has disadvantage on any attack roll that doesn’t target you until the end of your next turn.
Intrepid Soul
7th-level Soldier of Fortune feature
Whether it's fighting enemies while hanging from rigging or swimming through shark-infested waters in an underwater cove, you are always ready to leap into action, no matter where it takes you.
You gain a climbing and swimming speed equal to your walking speed, you can't be frightened, and you can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Charisma modifier.
Laugh in the Face of Danger
10th-level Soldier of Fortune feature
You can brace yourself in the heat of battle, even when gravely wounded. When you use your Second Wind feature, you regain additional hit points equal to your Charisma modifier, and, until the start of your next turn, you gain a bonus to your AC equal to your Charisma modifier and your walking speed increases by 10 feet.
Undeniable Swagger
15th-level Soldier of Fortune feature
When you roll initiative and have no style points remaining, you regain a number of style points equal to half your Charisma modifier, rounded up (minimum of 1).
Devil-May-Care
18th-level Soldier of Fortune feature
Death holds no fear, and the closer you are to death, the more dangerous you become.
When you make a death saving throw, you can add your Charisma modifier to the saving throw, and if the total number rolled equals or exceeds 20, you regain 1 hit point. In addition, while your current hit points are equal to or less than half your hit point maximum, each of your melee weapon attacks deals an extra 1d6 damage of the weapon's type.
