Base Class: Bard
Note: Only the text for abilities is available at the moment, abilities will not work within the DnD Beyond system.
When it comes to expressing one's self, bards tend to stick to music or speech. Some will even dance. Yet, a fabulous few choose an edible form of expression. Bards of the College of Brew choose to express themselves through cooking, brewing, or a just a good PB & J sandwich. As you play a College of Brew bard, think about how you cast spells, use class features and give inspiration. Perhaps you give a party member a swig of beer to inspire, a split cask can become a grease spell, and you can hand out sweets to perform a song of rest.
Tools of the Trade
When you join the College of Brew at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with Cook's utensils and Brewer's supplies. You can use your Cook's utensils or Brewer's supplies as your arcane focus. If you previously had proficiency with both of the tools, you gain proficiency with another Artisan tool.both of the tools, you gain proficiency with another Artisan tool.
Magic Snack
Also at 3rd level, you can use your Cook's Utensils or Brewer's supplies for one minute or the length of the spell (whichever is longer) to infuse a food item of your choice with a spell that targets a creature, creating a Magic Snack. A creature can choose to eat the item as an action and the spell then affects the creature as normal. You sense when a Magic Snack is consumed. Once one creature eats an item, the food loses its Magic Snack ability, even if the Magic Snack is not entirely eaten. Once one creature eats an item, the food loses its Magic Snack ability, even if the Magic Snack is not entirely eaten. All Magic Snacks revert back to food after a long rest.
The spells infused into the Magic Snacks must abide by these rules:
- They cannot have a casting time of a reaction, have a range of self or be a cantrip
- The spell must target a single creature, or you must choose to only target a single creature, such as with the Bane spell.
- If you must make a decision when casting a spell, such as with the Blindness/Deafness or polymorph spells, you must make the decision when you create the Magic Snack.
- You sense when a creature eats one of your Magic Snacks. If the spell is a concentration spell, you must still concentrate on it. If you choose not to concentrate on it, the spell does not take effect, and the Magic Snack is wasted.
You may create a number of Magic Snacks equal to your Charisma modifier per long rest.
Tasty Inspiration
At 6th level you know how to make dishes and brews that fortify and give off aromas that rejuvenate. When you give Bardic Inspiration, the receiver can gain temporary hit points equal to a roll of your bardic inspiration die.
Classic Recipe
At 14th Level, you have mastered some of your most basic recipes. 1st and 2nd level spells no longer apply to your limit of magical snacks you can make. They still consume spell slots.
