Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Lullabies tend to take a less head-on approach to most things. To them it both makes sense and is easier to handle people while they are asleep. Whether putting their allies to sleep to save and heal them using the bardic feature Song of Rest or putting their enemies to sleep to make a quick getaway or dare I say... dispatch them with haste.
These Bards are the sleepy, day-dreamy type. They are almost whimsical, not only are they excellent at telling bedtime stories but they also tend to be great companions. They have a calming air about them that puts people at ease, so it's hard to suspect that they could be in any way dangerous. Most other bards like bards from the College of Lullabies, especially bards with sleeping problems. They are always there with a cup of warm milk and a lullaby just for you.
Mother's Lullaby
Lullabies are songs typically passed down from parent to child, a soothing song to help them fall asleep and protect them from evil spirits.
At level 3, upon choosing the College of Lullabies you are able to put an enemy or a group of enemies to sleep depending on their challenge rating. As you level up you will be able to put enemies with higher challenge ratings to sleep (see table below). You also receive advantage when performing with a viol a lyre or a flute. When you use "Mother's Lullaby" on a target they must make a wisdom saving throw against your spell DC + 1/2 your Bard Level rounded down. If they fail they are asleep for 1d8 turns.
1d10 turns at 6th level.
1d12 turns at 9th level.
3rd 1 creature of 3 or lower / 12 1/4
6th 1 creature of 6 or lower / 24 1/4
9th 1 creature of 9 or lower / 36 1/4
The Lavender Field
The scent of lavender is said to help people sleep, it is an aromatic plant of the mint family associated with calmness and peace.
At 3rd level you are able to suspend others in time through sleep using your lyre, viol or flute as a spellcasting focus for 1d6 turns. When you do so you remove them of their ailments felt while in battle (Conditions). It also heals damage dealt by poison and can revert the negative effects of necrotic damage. While in the Lavender Field your ally cannot be harmed but they are also unable to battle. While suspended in The Lavender Field a weaker version of the Song of Rest plays for them, it levels with you but will never heal as much as Song of Rest. (1d4 at 3rd, 1d6 at 9th, 1d8 at 13th, 1d10 at 17th). This can be used as much as your Charisma (Performance) modifier allows (minimum of 1) once you are out of uses you must complete a long rest to use it again.
Nightmare and Dream Consumption
The nightmare: a horror familiar to most, experienced during sleep. It is an experience that leaves us shaken until our parents can calm us.
At 6th level when you've put an enemy to sleep you may use another action to attack them with a nightmare on the same turn. The nightmare cuts the amount of sleep time in half rounded up however. Once you attack with the nightmare it initially deals 3d12 psychic damage, and continues to deal 1d8 + their int psychic damage as you consume their dreams as long as the enemy is asleep, you are also healed the amount of psychic damage dealt and if you are full on health you are given temporary hit points. When the enemy wakes up they are dealt 1d12 psychic damage but you are not healed from this. You may use this as many times as your charisma modifier allows (minimum of 1) and after you are out of uses you must complete a long rest to regain them.
Insomniac
Insomnia is a sleep disorder classified by an inability to fall asleep and stay asleep over a prolonged period of time.
At 14th level you are always sluggish (you lose 10 from your speed). Sleep is also no longer a huge concern for you, you no longer need to complete a long rest to regain any feature uses or spell slots as just a short rest will do now. Alternatively you can exchange temporary hit points and hit points for use of features of your choice (5 hit points per use of a feature, if you spend 5 you are only using the feature once not as many times as the modifier allows), which you regain from completing a short rest or being healed. If you play your cards right, you may never need to sleep again.
Sleep Talk/ Walk
At 14th level while fighting you can sleep, while asleep you have advantage on dex throws (acrobatics). You are also able to talk in your sleep which allows you to use verbal spells as well as your features. Every time an enemy attacks you while you are asleep your proficiency bonus is added to your AC. Every two rounds you are asleep act as a short rest but only while you are in battle.
