Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

The Manaketes were once a great race of dragons. Unfortunately for them, their immense power began to erode their sanity, making them a threat to the world at large. Because of this, many Manaketes chose to seal their power away within precious stones, which they dubbed Dragonstones. This allowed them to maintain their sanity, but at the cost of their Draconic bodies and immense power. Instead of being a dragon at all times, they adopted the form of various humanoids throughout the land, only transforming into their Draconic forms briefly.

Draconic Transformation

At level 3 when you choose this subclass, you obtain a Dragonstone. It can take the form of an orb, pendant, or other jewelry. If you lose your dragonstone, you can perform a ritual at the end of a long rest to recover it. This ritual requires a gem of 50 GP value or higher to perform.

You can spend an action to use the Dragonstone to transform into your draconic form or back to your humanoid form. The type of dragon you become depends on your Draconic Ancestry. You choose whether any equipment you are wearing or carrying merges into your form or not. Any equipment not merged is destroyed or falls to the ground at the DM’s discretion. Any magic items that are merged into the form. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Con modifier. You regain all expended uses of this feature after completing a long rest.

Your statistics remain the same during this transformation, with the exception of the following:

  • You transform into a medium sized dragon of the color corresponding to your ancestry.
  • You gain a fly speed of 20 ft.
  • You are considered proficient with any natural weapons you gain as a part of this transformation while in this form. These weapon attacks use Strength for any attack rolls.
  • Claw. Natural Melee Weapon Attack: +(Str Mod) to hit, reach 5 ft., 1d6 + Str modifier piercing damage.
  • While in your Draconic form, you are unable to cast or concentrate on spells.
  • Breath Weapon (Recharge 6): You gain a breath weapon that deals 3d8 damage. The DC of this breath weapon is 8+your proficiency+Your Con modifier. The nature of this breath attack is determined by your Draconic Ancestry. At the beginning of your subsequent turns after using this weapon, roll a d6. On a 6, you regain the use of this breath weapon.

There is no time limit to your transformation. However, if you remain in your Dragon form for longer than 1 minute (10 rounds) you must make a DC 13 Wisdom save. If you fail the Wisdom save the DM takes temporary control of your character. The player will go berserk and attack anything in sight. They can be stopped by either knocking them unconscious or succeeding in a Charisma (Persuasion) Check used to calm them. If the Wisdom save is successful then repeat the save for every subsequent round the Player stays in Dragon form.
