Base Class: Paladin
A revolutionary who fights to depose a tyrannical emperor; an agent provocateur who infiltrates a powerful trading company; a religious reformer who seeks to end the opulent corruption of the church. The Oath of Upheaval is sworn by those who seek to overthrow the established order. They see change as a vital force of creation and renewal, and stagnation as a corruption of this process. Paladins may swear the oath for a variety of reasons, but they share these tenets:
- Lay Low the Mighty. Even the most benevolent institutions are a force for stagnation and corruption when they become too powerful.
- Defend the Weak. Balance the scales of the universe. Always take the side of the underdog.
- Distrust Tradition. Deference to the past and blind adherence to custom are telltale signs of stagnation and mental slavery.
- Look Toward the Future. Creativity and progress are born out of upheaval and turmoil. The winds of change bring renewal.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Upheaval Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.
Mental Liberation. You can use your Channel Divinity to free a creature from indoctrination. As an action, you force one creature of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature becomes charmed for 1 hour or until you or your companions take hostile action against it. The charmed creature forgets its loyalties, which may cause it to stop fighting, abandon its post, or reveal secret information.
Alternately, this feature may be used to remove all charmed effects from a creature. No saving throw is required for this effect.
At 15th level, the effect is empowered. A creature which is charmed becomes your loyal ally and will fight for your cause until the effect ends.
Overthrow. You can use your Channel Divinity to dismantle an enemy's defenses. As a bonus action, you can target one creature within 5 ft. that you can see. Until the end of your next turn, all attacks against the target are made with advantage. There is no saving throw against this effect.
At 15th level, the effect is empowered. Until the end of your next turn, attacks and spells against the target creature also ignore damage type resistances. Additionally, if the creature would be immune to a damage type, it is instead resistant.
Aura of Disruption
Starting at 7th level, you constantly emanate a disruptive aura while you’re not incapacitated. The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover.
Hostile creatures within the aura have disadvantage on Charisma, Wisdom, and Intelligence saving throws.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Harbinger of Change
Starting at 15th level, your Channel Divinity powers are augmented. When you use Channel Divinity: Conscript, the affected creature will fight for your cause, even against its former allies. When you use Channel Divinity: Overthrow, until the end of your next turn attacks against the target ignore all damage type resistances.
Mutable Form
At 20th level, your shape-changing abilities reach their peak. As an action, you can assume the form of a different creature as per the Shapechange spell, without any material requirements. While shapeshifted, you cannot cast spells, but you can use your Channel Divinity and Divine Smite abilities.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
