Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

You have practiced the art of using your own blood and life force to aid in casting your spells. This is a dark and often forbidden practice that offers power at sometimes great cost.

Blood Components

When you cast a spell that has components that are consumed by the spell, or that have a gold cost associated with them, you may expend hit dice to replace the components at a rate of 100 gold pieces per hit die expended. Roll the expended hit dice after completing the duration of the spell is complete, you take that much damage and your hit point maximum is reduced by the same amount.

Blood Magic

As a bonus action, you may restore an expended spell slot by expending a number of hit dice equal to the level of the slot, and rolling them. You take damage equal to the total of the dice rolled, and your hit point maximum is reduced by the same amount. This feature can restore expended spell slots up to level 5..

Magical Restoration

As a bonus action, you can expend a spell slot to restore a number of expended hit dice equal to the level of the spell slot. When you do this, you also regain number of hit points equal to the level of the spell slot expended and, if your hit point maximum has been reduced, increase it by the same amount, up to its normal maximum.

Blood Channeling

When you cast a spell of 3rd level or higher that deals necrotic damage, you can restore one expended hit die. When you do this, you also regain one hit point, and increase your hit point maximum by one if it is below your normal maximum.

Blood Command

Once per long rest, you may attempt to use another creature's life force instead of your own when you use one of your abilities that expends your hit dice. If the creature is unwilling, they make a Constitution saving throw, and if they fail, they receive all the harmful effects of your ability instead of you. If they fail, you suffer those effects. If the creature is willing, they do not make this save, automatically suffering the effects yourself.
