Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of the Thundering Fist fuses pure devastating physical strength with unerring combat techniques in order to achieve absolute and unquestionable superiority over opponents. These monks favor power over grace, believing that power has a grace of its own, and any who have seen them fight would be bound to agree. They absolutely dominate their conflicts, flinging opponents around as if they were nothing, while adapting to their specific fighting styles at the blink of an eye to utterly crush them. Their combination of heightened reflexes and forceful deflections led them to develop their own styles of defense, such as the Break The Mauling Bear technique used against blunt weapons, the Wrestle The Pouncing Tiger technique against edged assaults, and even the Strike The Diving Hawk technique designed specifically for projectiles. In addition to this, a member of this monastic tradition also spends months training with a particular weapon of their choice, attaining the mastery to crush or cleave their opponents without impeding their unarmed strikes at all. When a large group of monks of the Way of the Thundering Fist shows up to fight, their opponents have every reason to be afraid. Fighting even one of their order is like facing a storm, and each blow is a taste of their thunder, both within and without.

Power Unmatched

The Way of Reigning War has bestowed you with unparalleled physical prowess and mental fortitude to grant you the following features:

  • You gain proficiency in a martial weapon of your choice that has the Heavy property and does not have the Ranged property. This weapon counts as a Monk Weapon for you.
  • You gain proficiency in the Athletics and Insight skills if you don't have them already.
  • The bonuses granted by your Dexterity modifier in Armor Class, Martial Arts, and Deflect Missiles are replaced with your Strength modifier instead.

Battle Awareness

Monks of the Thundering Fist know how to break their enemies both in mind and body, though one must observe the foe before they can crush them.
As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to gain a bonus to damage rolls equal to your Wisdom modifier against a creature that has hit you with an attack on one of your previous turns. This benefit lasts until your concentration is broken (as if concentrating on a spell) or until you use it against a different creature.

No Blow Unpunished

Immediately after a creature hits you with a melee attack you can spend 1 ki point as a reaction to make an unarmed attack against the creature. If the creature is Large or smaller, you can also throw them a number of feet in any direction. The distance varies based on the creature's size: 5 feet for Large creatures, 15 feet for Medium creatures, and 30 feet for Small creatures and below. A creature thrown in this way must succeed on a Dexterity Saving Throw against your Ki Save DC or be knocked prone.

If the thrown creature's path is obstructed by a wall, object, or another creature, both the thrown creature and the obstruction take additional damage equal to twice your Martial Arts score, however the creature makes the Dexterity saving throw with advantage.

Additionally, creatures under the effect of your Battle Awareness have disadvantage on attack rolls made against you.

You also gain the Powerful Build feature.

Body Unbothered

Your body and mind have been perfected to shrug off greatly harmful effects. With your Stillness of Mind feature, you can also end an effect on yourself that is causing you to be blinded, stunned, or paralyzed in addition to the regular effects.

Additionally, now you also gain a bonus to attack rolls equal to your Wisdom modifier against creature's under the effect of your Battle Awareness.

You also gain expertise in your choice of Athletics or Insight.

Assault Unrelenting

Whenever you use Flurry of Blows against a creature under the effects of your Battle Awareness, you may spend 1 additional Ki point to make 2 additional attacks, for a total of 4.

Additionally, you gain advantage on Strength Ability Checks and Saving Throws.
