Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

The Raven Queen is a being shrouded in mystery who rules from Letherna, a fortress of ice in the Shadowfell. Little is known about her goals or even her nature, though there are myths about her origin. She might be a goddess or something more akin to the Shadowfell version of an Archfey. The Raven Queen does claim the domains of death, fate, and winter; the powers she grants to warlocks reflect these affinities. The Raven Queen's directives are often seen as a paradoxical. She seeks to ensure than none escape their fate, but manipulates events to her own ends. She utilizes undead, but despises any not under her control. These hypocritical contradictions carry through in your granted powers.

Expanded Spell List

The Raven Queen lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Expanded Spells

Spell Level Spells
1st bane, false life
2nd calm emotions, ray of enfeeblement
3rd revivify, speak with dead
4th death ward, ice storm
5th cone of cold, raise dead

Bonus Cantrips

At 1st level, you learn the chill touch and spare the dying cantrips. They count as warlock cantrips for you, but they don’t count against your number of cantrips known.

Apathy of Letherna

Starting at 1st level, the power drawn from the Shadowfell saps you of emotion making you resistant to some forms of magic. You gain advantage on saving throws against charm and frighten.

Mark of Death

Starting at 1st level, you gain the ability to mark an enemy for death, cursing them with baleful energy. As a bonus action, choose one creature you can see within 60 feet of you. The target is marked for 1 minute. The curse ends early if the target dies, you die, or you are incapacitated. Until the curse ends, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain a bonus to damage rolls against the cursed target. The bonus equals your proficiency bonus.
  • If the cursed target dies, you regain hit points equal to your warlock level + your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1 hit point).

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Twist Fate

Starting at 1st level, the Raven Queen allows her disciples to tweak the destiny of individuals so long as it suits her goals. As a reaction, you can force an enemy or ally (but not yourself) you can see within 60 feet to reroll an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw after seeing the die roll but before the result is declared. They must use their new result.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Chosen of the Queen

Starting at 6th level, you have proven your worth to the Raven Queen and she invests more of her power (and the power of the Shadowfell) into you. You gain resistance to cold and necrotic damage. Once per turn when you deal cold or necrotic damage, you may add your Charisma modifier to that damage.

Feast on Death

Starting at 10th level, you learn to siphon arcane power from those slain while under the effect of your Mark of Death in addition to stealing their life force. You regain a spent spell slot when you gain hit points from your Mark of Death ability.

Mine or No One's

Starting at 14th level, you gain the ability to take control of an undead creature as an action. When you use this ability, choose an undead creature within 60 feet of you. The undead creature may make a Wisdom save against your spell save DC at the beginning of each of its turns to end your control. Undead with an Intelligence score of 7 or lower make this save at disadvantage. Undead with an Intelligence score of 11 or better make this save with advantage. When you lose control of the creature, it suffers 1d10 psychic damage per warlock level.

Alternatively, you may expend the use of this feature as an action to regain the use of your Mark of Death and Twist Fate features.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
