Monk
Base Class: Monk

Arcane Soul monks devote themselves to the study of magic, learning spells like a wizard but committing them to memory rather than using a spellbook. They focus study on two schools of magic: Divination and Transmutation, the forces of mind over matter.

Spellcasting

Cantrips

Starting at 3rd level, you choose any two cantrips from the Wizard spell list. You learn one additional cantrip at when you reach 10th level in this class.

Spell Slots

The Arcane Soul table shows how many spell slots you have to cast spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a spell slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

Spells known of 1st level and higher

You learn three spells from the wizard spell list, at least two must be from the Divination and Transmutation spells on the wizard spell list.

The spells column of the Arcane Soul spellcasting table shows when you learn more wizard spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be a Divination or Transmutation spell of your choice, and must be of level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

The spells you learn at 8th, 14th, and 20th level can come from any school of magic.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the wizard spells you know with another spell of your choice from the wizard spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, and it must be a Divination or Transmutation spell, unless you're replacing the spell you gained at 3rd, 8th, 14th, or 20th level from any school of magic.

Spellcasting Ability

Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for your wizard spells, since you learn your spells through study and memorization. You use your intelligence modifier whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Intelligence modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a wizard spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

Spell attack modifier = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

Spellcasting Focus

You can use your Monk weapon as a spellcasting focus. If you don't wield a weapon or other spellcasting focus, you can't cast these spells.

Open Mind

Starting at 3rd level, you learn the Message cantrip. When you cast it, you don't need to use any verbal, somatic, or material components or speak the message out loud.

Magic Ki

Starting at 6th level, if you cast a divination spell that requires an action and requires a saving throw, you can spend 2 Ki points. Your Spell DC temporarily increases by 1 for every 2 Ki points you spend in this way, until the spell ends.

Mind over Matter

Starting at 11th level, when you cast a Transmutation spell of 2nd level or higher, you can spend 3 Ki points to reduce the spell slot consumed by 1. You cannot reduce a spell more than once in this way, and you cannot reduce a spell lower than 1st level.

Mind over Body

Starting at 17th level, you learn the Alter Self spell if you don't already know it. You can cast it once without consuming a spell slot, and must finish a long rest before you can use it again.
