Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians who walk the Path of the Mage Hunter often do so in the employ of a magical faction or organization, serving as special assassins trained to hunt down betrayers and deserters.

Hunter Training

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you’ve trained diligently on how to track down and quickly dispatch magic users. You gain proficiency in the Arcana and Investigation skills.

Additionally, you can cast the Detect Magic spell at will, using Intelligence as your spellcasting ability. You can cast this spell even if you’re raging.

Warding Rage

Beginning at 6th level, you’ve learnt how to manipulate the weave just enough to shield yourself from it. While raging, you gain a bonus to any Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma saving throws you make equal to your Constitution modifier.

Spellbreaker

Beginning at 10th level, you’ve learnt a new technique to nullify spells and magical effects. Whenever you use the Attack action on your turn, you can immediately use your bonus action to cast the Dispel Magic spell on your target. If you successfully dispel an effect, you gain temporary hit points equal to 1d10 + your Intelligence modifier.

Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for this spell and you can cast it in this way even if you’re raging.

Arcane Absorption

Starting at 14th level, you’ve figured out a way to absorb the volatile magical energy from a spell and wield it yourself. Whenever you’re forced to make a saving throw against a spell that lets you take half-damage, you can choose to fail the save intentionally. After doing so, your next successful melee attack deals an additional amount of force damage equal to half the damage you took.

You can use this feature once per long rest.
