Base Class: Paladin
With the fall of the gods and their respective orders those looking for a cause to devote themselves to were found lacking. However the unending battle of the abyss divers and their zealous conviction to end the horrors of the pit once and for all welcomed all wanting purpose, thus the Order of the Scorched Earth was born. Serving as travelling knights those of the Order are the only ones within the abyss divers to never descend the pits fathomless depths; instead they travel the world looking for the earliest signs of abyssal corruption and bring their cleansing flames upon them. Kingdoms answer to the beck and call of the Order out of fear of attracting their burning gaze and the scrutiny that entails. Entire townships can be brought down by their purging flames if they believe the first seeds of the abyss has taken root and local militia must always answer their call to fight off gate lords and seal their vents from the pit. The ideals of the Order are that only from destruction can creation begin and, much like the former god of purity, sacrifice is necessary to improve the world, though the exact definition of corruption is not detailed within any of their sacred texts, instead being left to their knights discretion.
Bonus Cantrip
When you take this oath at level 3 gain the Produce Flames cantrip if previously unknown.
Cleansing Flames of Anqa
When you take this oath at the 3rd level you gain the following manifestations of the Cleansing Flames.
Purging Weapons as a bonus action you can cause any weapon within your grasp to erupt in cleansing flame. For 1 minute, you deal an extra 1d6 fire damage to your target whenever you land an attack. This fire damage bypasses fire resistance but not immunity. The weapon also becomes magical for the duration if it was not already. The weapon emits a bright light in a 10 foot radius and a dim light for a further 10 feet. You can cancel this effect at will as part of any other action and the effect also ends if the weapon is dropped or you fall unconscious.
Fortifying Flame as a bonus action you cause your body to manifest flames and smoke around it. You gain resistance to fire damage and temporary hit points equal to 1d10+ your paladin level for 1 minute. If a creature lands a successful melee attack against you it suffers 1d4 fire damage.
Cleansing Warmth as a bonus action you reach out to a creature you can touch and engulf them in a healing warmth. The targeted creature is healed for 1d8+ you spell casting modifier.

Soul of the Phoenix Knights
Beginning at the 20th level, you can cleanse your very soul of the gods curse and ignite it, becoming the embodiment of the purging flame. Using your action, you can undergo a transformation. For 1 minute you gain the following benefits.
- Your body is ignited, replacing your form with a white-hot flame. Any creature that ends it turn within 10 feet of you must make a dexterity saving throw. On a failed save it takes 5d8 fire damage, or half as much on a successful save.
- As you move through terrain, it bursts into flames behind you, scorching the very earth as you move. Any ground you pass through whilst this feature is active becomes difficult terrain and is ignited. Creatures that pass through this terrain or end their turn within 5 feet of it must make a dexterity saving throw. On a failed save they take 5d8 fire damage, or half on a successful save.
- Flaming wings sprout from your new form. These wings grant 60 feet of flying speed as you ride on an updraft of your own soul.
- Any fire damage you inflict whilst in this form bypasses fire resistance but those with fire immunity instead are resistant.
- Once this feature is used, you cannot do so again until finishing a long rest.
