Base Class: Paladin
The Oath of the Dragon is sworn to the ideals of an ancient or godly dragon. The paladins who swear this oath dedicate themselves to serving a single dragon that may or may not be on speaking terms with them. These paladins can either be forces of good, metallic serving guardians who stand against the darkness, or they can be fierce tyrants, whose only purpose is to further the goals of the chromatic dragon they serve.
Envision which type of dragon you swear your oath to. This dragon becomes your oath dragon. Let your choice guide the tenets of your oath and pick three things important to your dragon.
(If there is interest, I'll add a rollable table here for dragon types and their tenets.)
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.
Summon Dragon Spirit. As an action, you summon a spirit that assumes the miniature form of your oath dragon, creating a long-lasting bond with it. Your dragon spirit has the stats of a pseudodragon except it has hit points equal to its Constitution modifier + your Charisma modifier + five times your level in this class. Additionally, instead of dealing poison damage, its sting deals damage according to your oath dragon's color. It appears in an unoccupied space within 30 feet. Your dragon spirit gains the same alignment as you, acts independently of you, and it always obeys your commands. In Combat, it takes its own turn immediately before or after yours. It can use all of its actions and features as normal.
While your dragon spirit is within five feet of you, you can make any spell you cast that targets only you also target your dragon spirit. When the dragon spirit drops to 0 hit points, it disappears, leaving behind no physical form. You can also dismiss your dragon spirit at any time as an action, causing it to disappear. In either case, using this Channel Divinity again summons the same dragon spirit, restored to its hit point maximum. While your dragon spirit is within 1 mile of you, you can communicate with each other telepathically. You can’t have more than one dragon spirit bonded by this Channel Divinity at a time.
Additionally, when you cast a spell with a range of touch, your dragon spirit can deliver the spell as if it had cast the spell. Your dragon spirit must be within 100 feet of you, and it must use its Reaction to deliver the spell when you cast it. If the spell requires an Attack roll, you use your attack modifier for the roll.
Finally, if your dragon spirit is summoned, you can instead use this Channel Divinity to grow a pair of spectral dragon wings matching the color of your oath dragon. When you do so, you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed for 1 minute. During this time, if your dragon spirit drops to 0 hit points you immediately fall safely to the ground and the wings disappear.
Oath Dragon's Breath. As the result of a ten minute ritual, you can call upon your dragon's power for the next 24 hours. Using this power, you may exhale a spectral form of your Dragon's Breath as an action a number of times equal to half your level in this class rounded down (maximum of four) and regain one charge per short rest. You lose all unspent charges after 24 hours or whenever this Channel Divinity is used again.
Your Dragon's Breath deals the damage and type according to the table below. When a creature must make a saving throw for your Dragon's Breath, the DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier. A creature takes 6d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 7d6 at 7th level, 8d6 at 15th level, and 9d6 at 20th level.
| Dragon Color | Damage Type | Dragon's Breath |
| Black | Acid | 5 by 30 ft. line (Dex. save) |
| Blue | Lightning | 5 by 30 ft. line (Dex. save) |
| Brass | Fire | 5 by 30 ft. line (Dex. save) |
| Bronze | Lightning | 5 by 30 ft. line (Dex. save) |
| Copper | Acid | 5 by 30 ft. line (Dex. save) |
| Gold | Fire | 15 ft. cone (Dex. save) |
| Green | Poison | 15 ft. cone (Con. save) |
| Red | Fire | 15 ft. cone (Dex. save) |
| Silver | Cold | 15 ft. cone (Con. save) |
| White | Cold | 15 ft. cone (Con. save) |
Special benefit for Dragonborn only:
You can expend a use of your Breath Weapon origins trait to roar, forcing each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). A target automatically succeeds if it can’t hear or see you. On a failed save, a target becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. If the frightened target takes damage from any creature other than you, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Aura of Dragon's Breath
Starting at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you gain resistance to the damage type associated with your dragon's color while you are conscious.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet. You and friendly creatures who already have resistance to the damage type instead gain immunity. Additionally, you can use your action to allow any number of friendly creatures within the aura to expend one charge of your Dragon's Breath each as a reaction
Draconic Shield
Beginning at 15th level, you are always under the effects of a protection from energy spell and can pick a new damage type after a short or long rest. You must be wielding a shield to gain this benefit.
Dragon Rider
At 20th level, as an action, you can summon a spectral form of your oath dragon as a mount that obeys your commands and takes its turn immediately before or after yours. The dragon mount has the stats of a young dragon matching the color of your oath dragon.
- You have advantage on melee Attack rolls against any unmounted creature that is smaller than your dragon mount.
- If your mount is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails.
- While you are riding your dragon mount, both you and the dragon can automatically succeed on one failed saving throw. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
