Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

A Dragonwright uses their craft to replicate the might of true dragons. They create weapons that deal both physical and elemental damage, like the bite of a chromatic dragon. They sling spells that simulate the alternate breath weapons and other abilities of metallic dragons. They even learn to fly like them, though only temporarily.

Tool Proficiency

When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with jeweler's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice.

Dragonwright Spells

Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Dragonwright Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Draconic Weapons

Your study of draconic magic has led to the creation of powerful weapons that can imitate the effect of a dragon's bite or breath.

You gain proficiency with martial weapons.

The maximum number of items you can infuse at once increases 1, but that extra item just be a simple or martial weapon that lacks the heavy and special properties. When you imbue such a weapon with one of your artificer infusions, you can use your jeweler's tools to embed a gem or crystal worth at least 50 gp into the weapon, granting the following benefits:

  • Instead of a flat damage bonus, it gains an equal number of d4 of acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison damage, chosen at the time of infusion.
  • When you attack with it, you can use your Intelligence modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls.

Draconic Blast

As an action, you can cause a draconic weapon you're holding emit a blast of its elemental energy in either a 20-foot cone or a 5-by-30-foot line (your choice). Each creature in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC, taking 3d6 damage on a failure, or half as much damage on a success. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Extra Attack

Beginning at 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Draconic Flight

At 9th level, you've developed artificial dragon wings which you can use to temporarily fly at great speeds.

You can cast Fly on yourself without expending a spell slot, without preparing the spell, and without material components, provided you use the wings as the spellcasting focus. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Also, your draconic blasts now deal 4d6 damage and can be a 30-foot cone or a 5-by-60-foot line.

Draconic Might

At 15th level your draconic power grows yet again:

  • Your draconic weapons now also deal an additional weapon damage die on a hit.
  • Your draconic blasts now deal 5d6 damage, and they can be a 40-foot cone or a 5-by-90-foot line.
