Base Class: Fighter
Those who emulate the archetypal Warlord employ martial techniques and leadership passed down through generations. Warlords strive to make those around them stronger, bolstering them with their presence and issuing commands in the heat of battle. They inspire through sheer force of will and combat prowess.
Warlord's Commands
Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to shape the battlefield to the advantage of your allies by issuing Commands. You can only issue one command per turn and affected creatures must share a language with you and be able to see and hear you to be affected by a command.
You can use this feature three times, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest. You can use this feature one additional time between rests at 8th level, and again at levels 13 and 17.
Saving Throws. Some of your commands require your target to make a saving throw to resist the command’s effects. The saving throw DC is calculated as follows:
Command save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier.
Feared & Respected
At 3rd level, you gain proficiency the Intimidation & Persuasion skills. At 7th level, you double your proficiency bonus with these skills.
Commands
The commands are presented in alphabetical order.
Break Free
As a bonus action, you provide an ally with the inspiration to break free of a restraint. The ally may use their reaction to attempt an Acrobatics or Athletics check with a bonus equal to your intelligence modifier (minimum 1). On a success, they break free from the restraint and may move up to 10 ft.
Challenge
As a bonus action you issue a challenge to an enemy you can see. This enemy must make a wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target has disadvantage on all attack rolls against targets other than you until you end your turn more than 5 ft. away from it or without attacking it.
It may attempt to save from this at the end of each of its turns. It has disadvantage on the save if you have damaged it since the end of its last turn. The effect immediately ends on a successful save and the creature cannot be affected by this again until it finishes a long rest.
Charge
Seeing the need for haste, you issue the command. When you roll initiative and are not surprised, you may use your reaction to allow any allies you can see to immediately move up to half their speed. After the movement, they may use their reaction to make a single attack roll.
Clear the Area
As a reaction to an ally making a dexterity saving throw within the area of effect of a spell or other hazard, you allow them to use their reaction to move up to half their speed. If this movement ends outside of the effect, they are not subjected to it.
Engage
As an action, you issue a command to an ally you can see to engage an enemy that both you and the ally can see. The ally may use their reaction to make a weapon attack against the target
Fall Back
As a bonus action, you can issue a command to an ally of your choice to fall back, allowing them to use their reaction to move up to their speed. This movement cannot end within 5 ft. of an enemy. When they do so, they gain a bonus to their AC equal to your intelligence modifier until the start of their next turn.
Get Down
As a reaction to an ally being target by a ranged weapon or spell attack, you issue the command to get down. The ally can use their reaction to drop prone and cause the attack to have disadvantage.
Immolate
As an action, you issue a command to one ally of your choice that can see and hear you to use their reaction to immediately cast a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action or less.
On Your Flank
As a bonus action on your turn, you warn an ally of impending danger. Until the start of your next turn, that ally does not grant advantage to attackers as a result of being flanked.
Rally
As an action, you issue a rallying cry to all allies that can hear you causing them to gain temporary HP equal to your level in this class + your intelligence modifier and have advantage on the next saving throw they make before the start of your next turn.
Stay Focused
As a reaction to an ally taking damage while maintaining concentration on a spell, you issue the command to stay focused and grant them a bonus to their roll equal to your intelligence modifier.
Stay With Me
As a bonus action on your turn, you issue the command to a fallen ally. You cause one ally within 30 ft. of you to stabilize if they are at 0 HP. If they receive healing before the start of your next turn, any die variables are maximized for them.
To Your Feet
As a reaction to an ally falling prone, you command them to get to their feet, allowing them to use their reaction to stand.
Warlord's Presence
At 7th level, your presence on the battlefield provides courage to your allies and helps to keep them in the fight. You become immune to the Frightened condition. While you are not incapacitated, allies that can see you have advantage on saves to avoid becoming frightened.
Pack Leader
Starting at 10th level, if you are within 5 ft of an enemy, allies that can see both you and that enemy have advantage on attack rolls against it.
Battlefield Commander
At 15th level, whenever you use a Warlord's Command to allow an ally to make an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check, the ally has advantage on that roll.
Guardian
At 18th level, you have mastered the art of defending those in your charge. You gain the following benefits:
- When an ally you can see and that can see and hear you fails a saving throw, you may use your reaction and expend a use of your Warlord's Command to allow them to reroll the saving throw. They must use the second result.
- When an ally within 5 ft. of you takes damage from any source, you may use your reaction and expend a use of your Warlord's Command to take the damage in their stead. The damage you take cannot be reduced or avoided in any way.
- When an ally you can see and that can see and hear you has a critical hit scored against them, you may use your reaction and expend a use of your Warlord's Command to cause it to be a normal hit.
