Cleric
Base Class: Cleric

Ovates may take on roles as diverse as outspoken prophet, haruspex-at-war or hedge-witch diviner, offering divination into both public and private life.

The methods of divination used are immensely diverse, and depend strongly on the relationship between Ovate and Deity, as well as the desired depth and immediacy of answer. Some of the most common include determining the auguries of portents, prayers and dream visions, cleromancy - the throwing of lots, such as the knucklebones of sacred animals or drawing runic tablets; extispicy - divination of entrails of sacrificial victims; elemental divination through the shapes in fire, water, air or earth; astrology - divination through interpreting the influence of the outer planes; and bibliomancy - divination through the use of sacred books.

It is common for skilled Ovates to be proficient in several different methods of divination and to use them appropriately - a sacrificial ritual might take several hours to complete and interpret, while spotting a portent in the flight of birds may be rather more immediate.

Opened mind

At level 6, due to your great skill in divination, when you cast a divination spell that has a chance for incorrect results if cast more than once a for the first time, it is not counted against the cumulative effect (thus you can cast the spell twice with no chance of error)

Imminent action

At 1st level, you begin to see into the future and determine the truth of a situation. You become proficient in Insight, and your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make with that skill.

In addition, you learn the True Strike cantrip, which does not count against the number of cleric cantrips you know. For you, it can be cast as a bonus action.

fickle fates

At second level, your skill increases and you are able to manipulate fate and swap outcomes. When you finish a long or short rest, you roll two d20s and record the numbers rolled. You can then use your reaction to replace any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by you or a creature that you can see within 30ft with one of these foreseen rolls.

You must choose to use this function before any roll, and you can replace a roll in this way only once per turn.

Channel Divinity: Prophetic utterances

You can use Channel Divinity to conduct a ritual, in order to cast a divination spell which allows you to pose a question to the world - these spells include Detect Evil and Good, Augury, Divination, Commune, and Legend Lore. You can cast these spells without material components, although you must have the spell prepared. The ritual takes one minute, plus the spell’s casting time.

You are also able to ask additional questions - up to half your wisdom modifier.

In addition, Foresight becomes a cleric spell for you.

Divine Strike

At 8th level, you gain the ability to infuse your weapon strikes with divine energy. Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d8 psychic damage to the target. When you reach 14th level, the extra damage increases to 2d8.

Foresight

Starting at 17th level, when you would normally roll one or more dice to restore hit points with a spell, you instead use the highest number possible for each die. For example, instead of restoring 2d6 hit points to a creature, you restore 12.
