Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Dinosaurs. Large. Old. Strong. Path of the Bone Warrior barbarians hail from tribes that admire these titanic beasts. They wish to harness their power, either by praying to ancient gods or by learning directly from the source. Wearing the bones of these creatures to battle has become a tradition as old as time itself.

Marrow Minded

At 3rd level, when you adopt this path, you choose fossil to gain its features. You must keep this fossil on your person in some way, usually by wearing it. Wearing fossils does not count as armor.

The fossil you choose does not have to be exactly like the one listed, as long as it represents a similar theme. For example, you may choose the armor plating of an ankylosaurus instead of the skull of a triceratops.

Skull of the Defender. You don the skull of a triceratops. While raging, you gain a +2 bonus to your AC. Additionally, as a reaction, you can reduce the damage of an incoming attack by an amount equal to your proficiency bonus.

Claw of the Plunderer. You carry the claw of a velociraptor. While raging, you can roll one additional damage die per turn when making an attack against a creature with less than half of its total health remaining. Additionally, you gain advantage on Sleight of Hand checks.

Horn of the Caller. You keep the crest of a parasaurolophus by your side. When you enter a rage, a number of creatures equal to your Charisma modifier of your choice that you can see gain a bonus to the damage of their next attack equal to your rage damage bonus. Additionally, you learn the Thunderclap cantrip and can cast it while raging. Charisma is your spell casting ability for this spell.

Extinction's Ward

At 6th level, your constant interaction with fossil gives you a better understanding of death. When a creature within 10ft of you drops to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to make them drop to 1 instead. When you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Bone Cladded

At 10th level, you can choose another fossil to gain features from. Choose one of the following below.

Spikes of the Hermit. You adorn the spikes of a stegosaurus. While raging, when you make an attack against a creature within 5ft of you, the attack does an additional 2 points of piercing damage. This includes attack actions like grappling and shoving. Additionally, if you are grappled, the creature grappling you takes 3 points of damage each turn you are grappled.

Jaws of the Tyrant. You crown the jaws of a tyrannosaurus rex. While raging, when you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points, you regain 1d8 + your Constitution modifier in health.

Neck of the Tower. You wield the vertebra of a brachiosaurus. While raging, when you take the attack action, weapon attacks have an additional 5ft of reach.

Colossal Fossils

At 14th level, your understanding of dinosaurs allows you to reach their size. As a bonus action or as part of entering rage, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute.

  • Your size is increased by 1
  • You gain temporary hp equal to 2d12+ your Constitution modifier
  • The bonus damage you gain from raging is doubled
  • When making intimidation checks, treat any roll 12 or below as a 13

The effects of this feature end early if you are reduced to 0 hits point or unconscious. You can use this feature 2 times and regain all expended uses after finishing a short or long rest.
