Base Class: Sorcerer
With a cacophony of different voices originating from one mouth, a dark elf manifests an illusory scene of their happiest memory: them and their partner, sharing a kiss in a hidden crystal cave.
A bugbear manifests a sorrowful memory of his greatest loss: the death of his clan. As he does, blurry humanoid shapes surround him, copying his movements in silence.
A Torn Soul is created when several loose souls are ripped apart by unknown phenomena, then put together incorrectly using pieces from different souls. Creatures who die but are then resurrected using divine magic or returned to life by other means, sometimes find themselves returned to life with a torn soul, their own soul having been partially ripped apart. Such creatures find themselves able to wield magic in odd new ways, and draw that magic from the strange and disjointed memories contained within their torn soul. Maybe they draw it from a specific memory that originated from a spellcaster? Or perhaps their magic comes from the chaotic, unstable nature of their soul?
No matter what way a creature obtains a torn soul, this strange and often deeply disturbing event manifests in various ways - both physically and mentally. Roll on the Manifestations of a Torn Soul Table to determine a manifestation, or come up with your own.

Fragmented Memories
At 1st level, you have learnt how to draw knowledge and experience from your fragmented and unfamiliar memories. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can choose to gain proficiency in one skill or tool, learn one language and learn two cantrips of your choice from any class’ spell list and add them to your list of known cantrips. These cantrips count as sorcerer cantrips for you, and don't count against your maximum number of cantrips known.
If you exchange a language, skill or tool proficiency, or cantrip at the end of a long rest, all knowledge of them is completely forgotten until you choose to regain them again at the end of another long rest.
Invoke Memory
Starting at 6th level, you’ve learnt how to manifest fragments of your unfamiliar memories in the form of illusory scenes. As an action, you can summon an illusory scene depicting a joyful or sorrowful memory in a 30-foot cube for 1 minute. You can only have one memory scene active at once.
If you chose to create a joyful memory, the scene invigorates and bolsters your allies. While an ally is within the 30-foot cube, it is immune to being frightened and gains a number of temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier at the start of each of its turns.
If you chose to create a sorrowful memory, the scene demoralizes and saddens your enemies. While an enemy is within the 30-foot cube, it suffers a penalty to any ability check, saving throw or attack roll it makes equal to your Charisma modifier. The memory leaves a creature unaffected if it’s immune to being charmed.
You can use this feature twice per long rest, unless you spend 5 sorcery points to use it again.
Unfamiliar Arcana
Starting at 14th level, you’ve discovered a memory fragment from an unknown spellcaster. You learn one spell from any class’ spell list. This spell counts as a sorcerer spell for you, and doesn't count against your maximum number of spells known. The spell cannot be exchanged, and is permanent once learned.
Memento Mori
Starting at 18th level, your manifested memories have grown more potent, and you’ve now learnt how to manifest the memories of a creature's final moments or its most dreadful experience. Whenever you use your Invoke Memory feature, you can now make a dreadful memory instead of a joyful or sorrowful one.
If you choose to make a dreadful memory, the scene terrifies and haunts your enemies. While an enemy is within the 30-foot cube, it takes psychic damage equal to your Charisma modifier at the start of each of its turns and has disadvantage on Constitution saving throws made to concentrate on spells and on Wisdom saving throws to resist being frightened. The memory leaves a creature unaffected if it’s immune to being frightened.
