Base Class: Sorcerer
Perhaps born into a cursed lineage or condemned by a powerful spellcaster, your very lifeblood is altered from the norm. Such energies have effected you on a metaphysical level, this change manifesting itself in controlled expressions of magical talent. As magical experimentation is further explored these energies become more defined, a gift of magical permutation, perhaps unwanted or strived for. Ultimately you have become a vessel for the lifeblood of gorgonic magic and with this power, you may do some good to the contrary of the circumstances of your origin.
Cursed Blood
When you choose this archetype at 1st level, the sickly infusion of power within you has likened your body to that of a gorgon monstrosity. You can speak Parseltounge, and have the ability to read and write in parselscript.
Additionally your creature type counts as Monstrosity for the sake of spells and features.
Parselmagic
Also starting at 1st level, you gain a number of serpentine companions. These serpents remain on your person at all times and as such you cannot be surprised by attacks made within 30ft of you and cast use the snakes to supplement for somatic components in your spells.
Petrifying Gaze
Starting at 6th level, you grow a second, eyelid-like film over your eyes that, when opened, manifest your gorgonic talents in physical form. When a creature you can see within 30 ft of you meets your gaze, you can use your reaction and spend 3 sorcery points to cause the target to roll a Constitution saving throw against your Spell Save DC. On a failed save, the target begins to turn to stone and is restrained. The restrained creature must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn, becoming petrified on a failure, or ending the effect on a success. Petrification in this manner lasts until the creature is freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic.
Accursed Gorgon
Starting at 14th level, you gain resistance to the Petrified condition and as a bonus action you gain a burrow speed equal to your movement speed. This movement is taken as if under the effects of the Meld into Stone spell. While interned in this way you cannot take any action, bonus action, movement or reaction except that of this feature until you resurface.
Heart of Stone
Starting at 18th level, you gain immunity to the Petrified condition. You have also developed a mastery of the gorgonic curse that defines your sorcerous abilities. Your Petrifying Gaze counts as a spell only so much as allowing for the use of your metamagic abilities to effect it.
