Base Class: Fighter
These warriors keep with them the secret of a terrible and forgotten legend. They hold the last fleeting memories of an age ruled by a maleficent entity, who commanded powers of blood, cold, and decay. Many ages have passed since that dark time, and although wounds may have healed, the scars remain. A shred of that horrid magic lingers on, and Plague Tyrants are the ones that wield it. For what purpose, only they can tell you.
Plague Curse
3rd-level Plague Tyrant feature
You have learned how to curse your foes with a deadly plague. As a bonus action, you can magically curse a creature you can see within 30 feet for one minute. A creature under the effects of the curse takes 1d4 necrotic damage at the start of each of its turns. At the end of each of its turns the creature can make a constitution saving throw to end the curse.
Your Plague Curse save DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.
Aspect of the Tyrant
3rd-level Plague Tyrant feature
You can use magic to temporarily mirror an aspect of a true plague tyrant. You learn one aspect of your choice, from among the aspects described below. When you reach certain levels in this class, you learn additional aspects, as shown in the Aspects Known table.
Aspects Known
| Fighter Level | Number of Aspects |
|---|---|
| 3rd | 1 |
| 7th | 2 |
| 10th | 3 |
Whenever you finish a short or long rest you can choose one aspect that you know to empower. When you empower an aspect you gain additional effects until you finish your next short or long rest.
Aspect of Blood
This aspect emulates the Plague Tyrant's resolve to live at all costs. When you learn this aspect you gain advantage on Wisdom(Survival) checks.
Empowered Aspect of Blood. While this aspect is empowered, you gain advantage on Wisdom saving throws. In addition, while at least one creature is under the effects of your Plague Curse, you can use your action to drain the curse energy from those afflicted by it: each creature affected by the curse takes the damage of the curse and the curse is removed. You gain temporary hit points equal to half your Fighter level plus two for each enemy affected by your Plague Curse.
Aspect of Depravity
This aspect evokes the wicked and corrupt soul of the Plague Tyrant. When you learn this aspect you gain advantage on Charisma (Deception) checks.
Empowered Aspect of Depravity. While this aspect is empowered, you bolster the effects of your Plague Curse. When you use your Plague Curse bonus action, you can choose to curse a number of other creatures within 20ft of the target up to your proficiency bonus. Additionally, creatures affected by your Plague Curse have disadvantage on Constitution saving throws.
Aspect of Rime
This aspect channels the cold and brutal nature of the Plague Tyrant. When you learn this aspect you gain advantage on Strength (Athletics) checks.
Empowered Aspect of Rime. While this aspect is empowered, you can strengthen your weapon attacks. When you hit a creature that is affected by your Plague Curse with a weapon attack: you can choose to remove the curse to deal additional cold or necrotic damage (your choice) equal to 1d4 + half your fighter level and deal half the total damage of the attack as cold or necrotic damage (your choice) to another creature within 5ft of you or the target.
Enfeebling Sickness
7h-level Plague Tyrant feature
You have learned to augment the Plague Curse to briefly weaken your foes. When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you, including yourself, is hit by attack roll by another creature that is suffering from your Plague Curse, you can use reaction to remove the curse and force the attacker to reroll the attack with disadvantage and use the new roll. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Dark Practitioner
10th-level Plague Tyrant feature
Your sufficient application of deadly diseases and dark curses has made you familiar with the telltale signs of these afflictions affecting others. You gain proficiency in Wisdom (Medicine) checks. Additionally by spending one hour of concentrated effort with a target creature, you exactly recognize any diseases or curses affecting the target and have advantage on any ability checks made to recall the steps to cure or dispel the affliction.
Moreover, the damage of your Plague Curse increases to 1d6.
Infectious Plague
15th-level Plague Tyrant feature
You have learned how to empower the contagiousness of your plague curse. When a creature starts its turn while under the effect of your Plague Curse, each creature of your choice within 5ft of them also affected by the curse.
True Plague Tyrant
18th-level Plague Tyrant feature
You have learned how to temporarily echo every aspect of the Plague Tyrant. As a result, the damage of your Plague Curse increases to 1d8. As an action you can embody every aspect of the Plague Tyrant for one minute and gain the following effects:
- You gain the effects of each Empowered Aspect from your Aspect of the Tyrant Feature.
- You have immunity to cold, necrotic, and poison damage.
- You are immune to the grapple, paralyzed, poisoned, and restrained conditions.
- You ignore difficult terrain and your speed cannot be reduced.
Once you use this feature you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.

Posted Jul 9, 2024I really like the Idea of the Plague Curse, but I think that it needs to be a lot more powerful at higher levels. I would also suggest adding more options to Aspect of the Tyrant and maybe making the 15th level feature more powerful.
