Base Class: Barbarian
Adrenaline Junkies with a taste for blood, Reaver's tend to be the most aggressive and vicious warrior's you might ever meet. Combat is where they thrive, and no one thrives on Combat quite like a Reaver Barbarian.
Disclaimer: My name is Raphael & I am using D&D beyond to easily catalogue some of the classes I have been homebrewing. Now in all honesty, quite a lot of my homebrew is either directly taken or influenced by pre-existing homebrew. I am just using this space to easily keep track of my homebrew subclasses that I use in my specific world that I’ve created. Most of the homebrew is homebrew I actually made myself, however if you would like to use it or catalogue it for yourself, please feel free to!
Adrenaline
Beginning at 3rd level, you are able to control the very adrenaline that courses through your veins. Whenever you bring an enemy to 0 hit points or a critical attack is landed upon you, you gain a point of adrenaline at the end of your turn. You can hold a maximum of these adrenaline points equal to your Barbarian level. You can spend one point of adrenaline to do one of the following:
- Reroll a failed attack roll and use the new roll
- Reroll a damage roll and use the new roll
- Reroll a failed saving throw and use the new roll
- Reroll a failed skill check and use the new roll
You can only spend one adrenaline point per turn and you lose all unspent adrenaline points at the end of a long rest.
Devour
Beginning at 6th level, whenever you deal damage to a creature, you can use one adrenaline point to regain hit points equal the damage dealt + your barbarian level. You can only spend an adrenaline point in this way 2 times every short or long rest. Additionally, you gain an adrenaline point when:
- One of your allies drops to 0 hit points within 60ft of you
- You are surprised before a combat
You can now use adrenaline points to reroll any 1’s on a die used to make you regain hit points whether they’re from your hit dice, a healing spell or class feature, or a healing potion.
Bloody Appetite
Beginning at 10th level, whenever you roll for initiative and have no uses of Devour left, you regain one use.
Fight or Flight
Also at 10th level, you now gain 1 adrenaline point, whenever one of the following occurs:
- Your roll initiative
- You become frightened
You can now spend 3 points of adrenaline to give yourself another use of rage when you have no more uses left. Additionally, you can now spend 1 point of adrenaline to dash or disengage as a bonus action.
Terrifying Assault
At 14th level, you brutal criticals can become a terrifying reave against your opponent. Whenever you score a critical hit while raging, you can immediately expend the 1 point of adrenaline you'd normally get to gain advantage on the damage roll. When you do, the target of your attack must also make a wisdom saving throw or be frightened by you until the end of your next turn. DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your strength modifier.
