Bard
Base Class: Bard

First and foremost, members of the College of Pyrotechnics are charlatans and tricksters - utilizing a dazzling display of multi-colored flares to distract and confound their audiences.

Pyrotechnic Bards have a knack for the use of fire. Those who specialize in flames for the purposes of performance are able to wow large crowds or even entire towns with a flick of the wrist and a bit of added spectacle. Conversely, they are able to utilize the same spectacles to distract, harass, or - in a pinch - incinerate their enemies.

Basic Pyrotechnics

When you join the College of Pyrotechnics at 3rd level, you have learned the basic manipulation of flaming magics. You learn the Produce Flame, Control Flames, Pyrotechnics, and Scorching Ray spells. Each of these spells counts as a Bard spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of Bard cantrips or spells you know.

Additionally, the range you can hurl your Produce Flame is increased to 60 feet.

Finally, whenever you cast the Pyrotechnics spell, you do not need to choose an area of nonmagical flame. Instead, you just choose a point that you can see within range of the spell.

Mischievous Light Show

Starting at 6th level, you are so skilled at micromanaging complicated light shows that your reaction times are severely heightened. You gain a second Reaction, but this reaction may not be used for opportunity attacks. When you achieve 14th level in this class, you gain a third reaction.

While a creature has one of your Bardic Inspiration die but has not used it yet, you can aid them in various ways during combat as long as you are within 60 feet of the creature. You can use the following reactions:

  • Blinding Flash. When the creature is targeted by an attack roll but before the to hit roll is made, you make a ranged spell attack against the attacking creature. Upon a hit, the target takes fire damage equal to one roll of your Bardic Inspiration die and has disadvantage on that attack roll as they are briefly blinded.
  • Diversion. When the creature is forced to make an Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma saving throw, you can cause a flare of harmless, distracting pyrotechnics to burst before their very eyes. The creature adds an amount equal to your proficiency bonus to their saving throw.
  • Ember Barrier. When the creature expends your Bardic Inspiration dice, you cause a sparkling aura of embers to surround their form. They gain an amount of temporary hitpoints equal to the number they rolled on the Bardic Inspiration dice plus your Charisma modifier.

Wellspring of Flame

Starting at 14th level, you have learned to have a constant, small stream of your natural magics bolstering your longevity, durability, and the potency of your flames. You gain the following traits:

  • For every 10 years that pass, your body ages only 1 year.
  • You gain resistance to fire damage.
  • Whenever you deal Fire damage to a creature, you deal an additional amount of damage equal to your Charisma modifier.
