Monk
Base Class: Monk

"Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power." This is the mantra of the members of the Weeping Brook, an organization of learning and utilizing the land around them to protect those that cannot protect themselves in the Hallowed Land of Tyral. During the large pushes of humanoid forces against creatures much larger and physically built, it was with the help of the Weeping Brook that portions of civilization held strong. In more recent decades they have largely dedicated their time as an organization to teaching those without a home or place to go to their ways. This habit has filled certain sects of the Weeping Brook with less desirable individuals.

Monks of the Crashing Wave have a tendency towards neutrality, though some see their ability to turn other's own abilities against them as too powerful to sit by; instead they take action, whether altruistic or detrimental.

Off A Duck's Back

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the ability to redirect a creature's strike in close quarters in addition to ranged projectiles. As a reaction you can attempt to change the target of a creature's melee attack when you are within 5 ft. of the target. When you do so, the damage the target of the creature's attack takes is reduced by 1d10 + your dexterity modifier + half of your monk level, rounding down.

If you reduce the damage to 0, you can choose to transfer the momentum of the strike towards another creature within the attacker's reach by spending 1 ki point. You make this attack with proficiency as part of the same reaction, regardless of your weapon proficiencies, and this attack counts as a monk weapon, dealing damage equal to the weapon's damage die plus the creature's bonus to damage.

Sureness of Mind

Once you reach 6th level you have learned to use your ki to shield your mind from invasive effects. You have advantage against magical effects that attempt to read or alter your thoughts and emotions. On a successful save, the creature takes 3d6 radiant damage and you are immune to future attempts to magically read your thoughts from that creature.

Sureness of Body

At 6th level, your body grows more resolute in taking blows and becoming physically stronger. When you're prone, you can stand up by spending 5 feet of movement, rather than half your speed. Also when attempting to stop or redirect an attack using Off A Duck's Back, you can now roll your d10 twice and choose the higher result.

Turbulent Waters

Starting at 11th level, you gain the ability to empower your hands or weapons with ki. When you are targeted by a creature's spell you can attempt to use Deflect Missiles as it would normally function. If you reduce the damage of their spell to 0, you can spend 2 ki points to harness and redirect their spell back at them, using the damage they would do at their level.

In addition, you gain the ability to spend up to 3 ki points as a bonus action to enhance your fists or one other monk weapon in your hands. For a minute this weapon has a magical plus to hit and damage based on how many ki points you spent.

Instinctual Counter

Starting at 17th level, your body learns to strike out without having to think. When targeted by an attack that requires an attack roll, you can spend 1 ki point to gain a reaction that can only be used for Off A Duck's Back or Redirect Missiles. This is only limited by the amount of ki points that you have.
