Base Class: Monk
Honed and refined by saiyans over generations, the Way of the Saiyan is about overcoming personal limitations and using one's ki and spirit to reach new heights of power.
Despite advances in their technology, when their back's against a wall, a saiyan's first instincts are to use their fists. The forms and techniques of the way are sharp and minimalist, engineered to channel fight-or-flight instincts into explosive speed and power. The first goal of the training of the way is to draw out those responses, then to sharpen self-awareness and control those responses, and even further beyond to cultivate spiritual awareness and strength.
Never large in numbers, the saiyans nevertheless were fierce warriors, and would often send just a few well-trained monks to face their enemies. Their speed and ferocity were second to none, utilizing their ki for devastating attacks and to soar into position, wreaking havoc with their bare fists. The Way of the Saiyan served to amplify the already enormous fighting spirit of the saiyans, and it helped them to conquer lands far and wide.
At present, it is not just saiyans who follow the way. Worthy warriors of many races now follow it, looking to unlock their hidden potential. While the saiyans were always warlike, the training has been too much for some, shifting their ideals towards tyranny and brutality. Those that do make it through training come out transformed, something new; ready to face any evil, and to test their limits.
Ki Control
The harsh and unforgiving physical training of the Way of the Saiyans serves a dual purpose of honing the body and instincts but also of unlocking depths of spirit and ki, which must be drawn on to survive the training. But once this breakthrough happens, it has a massive impact on growth.
Your ki control manifests as the Eldritch Blast cantrip, which you can spend a ki point to cast, or two to cast as a Bonus Action or Reaction to a hostile creature attacking an ally once during your turn. It also augments your senses, giving you advantage on initiative and on Dexterity saving throws against effects that you can see, such as traps and spells. To gain this benefit, you can’t be blinded, deafened, or incapacitated.
Sky Dance
Your ki training has intensified, and now your ki has the strength to push back against gravity. You become able to fly, gaining a flying speed of your speed, but you must land at the end of the movement. At eleventh level flying has become natural, and you gain the ability to hover.
Instinctual Speed
Starting at 11th level, you’ve honed your awareness and reflexes through mental aptitude and pattern recognition, magnified even further by your ki training. Once per turn, if you’ve already taken your reaction, you may spend 1 ki point to take an additional reaction.
Signature Technique
Upon reaching 17th level, you’ve gained the knowledge to craft a technique utilizing your ki like no one else can. You've developed a signature technique with a unique look, starting from one of these general directions. Each of these options takes one action and costs 7 ki points to use. You can't use the technique again until you finish a long rest.
Debilitating Barrage
You unleash a massive flurry of energy blasts. You can use Eldritch Blast three times with one action.
Power Impact
You unleash a charged globe of ki that explodes at a distance. Make a ranged spell attack against each creature in the area of a 20-ft. radius sphere within 180 feet. On a hit, each creature in the area takes 8d12+Wisdom modifier Force damage and is pushed 20 feet away from the center of the sphere.
Stream of Destruction
You charge up your ki, then shoot it forwards in a huge beam. Each creature in a 5-ft. wide 120-ft. line from you must make a Dexterity saving throw: on a failure, they take 10d10+Wisdom modifier Force damage; on a success they take half damage.
