Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

The brightward school focuses on the important of protection against the flux and the applications/uses of crystals. Although originally an offshoot of the abjuration college, it has become a notable college in its own right in broken sky.

Aiding Magic

By 2nd level, your training in supporting and strengthening the magic of crystals has given you the ability to support and strengthen your companions in the same way. When you cast a spell of first level or higher, choose an ally you can see within 30 feet of you. Until your next turn, that ally gains a bonus to AC, attack rolls, and damage rolls equal to the level of spell slot expended. You can use this feature a number of times per long rest equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1).

Gift of Irenbright

At 6th level, you have learned to use small pieces of Irenbright Crystal as reservoirs of power. You can spend 8 hours infusing a shard of Irenbright crystal with magical energy. It gains one of the following features of your choice:

- Once per day, the crystal’s stored power can be used to cast the spell counterspell at 3rd level without expending a spell slot.

- You gain proficiency in a type of saving throw of your choice

- You gain resistance to one of acid, cold, fire, lightning, thunder, poison, radiant, or necrotic damage.

- You gain a number of temporary hit points equal to twice your wizard level plus twice your proficiency bonus each day at dawn.

You may change which of the effects the crystal has by spending another 8 hours changing it. You cannot have more than one of these crystals infused at a time.

Crystalline Awareness

Beginning at 10th level, you are constantly alert for a danger that might be present. You may add your intelligence modifier to your perception checks. In addition, you may take two reactions each round, instead of one, though both of those reactions may not be taken during the same creature’s turn. Finally, you may also use your reaction to use the Help action.

Energy Surge

Once a day, you may overload your magical resources. As an action, you may expend any number of spell slots of any combination of levels. Depending on the total level of slots expended, the following effects occur.

  • If you expend at least 4 levels, an enemy of your choice gains vulnerability to the damage type of your choice until your next turn.
  • If you expend at least 8 levels, all friendly creatures within 30 feet of you gain a number of temporary hit points equal to half your wizard level.
  • If you expend at least 12 levels, up to 6 hostile creatures you can see each take an amount of force damage equal to your wizard level.

When you use this feature, you are stunned until the end of your next turn.
